Well, that was fun. Crappy plot, really, but fun. Certainly better than Turn Left.
…That might just be because Sarah Jane was in it. ;p (I will ignore her cliff hanger until the second part, thank you.)
Really, it was engaging while it was on, and I liked seeing the characters and their relationships, and I loved that phone call.
(…Mind, after Harriet mentioned that the Doctor wouldn't always be there, and that they'd have to fight for themselves, her plan being to…call the Doctor was a bit of a let down. She was still awesome, though. Also, hot. Can I have Harriet/Sarah now?)
I quite liked Rose, mostly - she had more of a personality this time around. I thought her frustration about being left out was…sort of cute, honestly, and understandable. "I was there first" was the only thing that really grated, and I'm hoping that was just…temporary. And meaning more 'I was there before you'.
Her freaking out over Ten regenerating - I get it. I don't think she ever really dealt with Nine's, not really, and now it's happening again, and who knows how he'll end up, how long he'll be out of commission, she didn't even get to hug him first…
"Please find me" - yeeeah. Had me going 'buh?' there. I'm…hoping that was more…'please find me so I know you're here on Earth'? I don't know.
ANYWAY.
The large cast was handled far better than I expected. Davros was done very well, but I've been tired of him for ages. (And, ah, Doctor. "You died in the first year of the Time War"? HOW MANY TIMES DID HE DIE BEFORE THAT? DAMMIT, DAVROS, STAY DEAD. Ahem.) The Daleks…yeah, still tired of the Daleks. They're little more than pepper pot catch phrases now, really. Yawn.
(However, "I have one thing to say to you. BYE!" was awesome. I loved how that was delivered.)
I still fear for Donna, and lamented the lack of her in this episode. I hope she gets more in the finale. Considering she's, you know, the current companion.
Medusa Cascade - oh, so using that in fanfic soon.
Shadow Proclamation - letdown. Intergalactic police? Yawn. (Mind, Ten cheerfully scarpering? So a Five Doctors reference. There may have been grinning.)
Ten - a bit daft for plot purposes once again.
Donna - didn't do much, as I said, but she was awesome in all of her scenes, so. (And, seriously, I don't get the outrage/over the top glee over her being happy for Ten. He's being reunited with an old friend. He's her best friend. Really, people.)
Jack - is always more likeable on Doctor Who, for some reason. Barrowman's DRAMATIC ACTING is still hilarious. Just leaving his surviving team at Torchwood, though? …Really?
Martha - was awesome. Pretty much the only one who didn't really freak out over the Daleks, right? Just an "oh, fuck" expression. And, oh, ending up at home.
Francine - was barely there, is still much better than Sylvia.
Sarah and Luke - were freaking adorable, as always. I LOVE MR. SMITH AND HIS FANFARE (and Sarah's annoyed comments on same). Also, "I will protect the boy."
Um. Am I forgetting anything? Probably. Ah, well.
And no, I do not consider an episode title a spoiler.
