I'll be true, I'll be useful, I'll be cavalier
I'll be yours my dear and I'd belong to you.

“Lee Sungmin! Smile~”
The twelve year old Donghae shouted to her friend while waving a Polaroid in her hands, “You’re looking too sad again! Smile!!!”
“Aaahhhh… Donghae, you should stop taking pictures of me! I don’t look good for your camera!” 13 year old Sungmin said but she still smiled until she heard the ‘click’. Oh, the antics of her friend.
The other excitedly took out the photo and waited until a photo of a smiling Sungmin flashed before her eyes. “As always, unnie is too pretty! Aish,” Donghae rushed to her friend and showed the picture. The older one smiled and took the Polaroid.
“Let’s take a photo. It should be the two of us because you always take pictures of me!” Donghae contemplated at first but agreed and posed with Sungmin.
The two burst out in laughter at how the photo looked like, it was angled in a way that only their eyes and above were shown. The playground during the afternoon stood as their background. “Ah, unnie… it’s a good picture but you need to focus on us next time, okay?” The younger one teased while the other just smiled sheepishly.
“You’re always better at this Hae-”
“What’s going on here???” The two girls smiled at the familiar voice and they turned their heads to see their guy friend smiling his gummy smile.
Hyukjae just turned thirteen and he had always been good friends with Donghae and Sungmin. The three were best friends since kindergarten and they were inseparable ever since - the two girls most especially.
“Aish, Hyukjae, must you ruin the happy atmosphere by your very presence?” Sungmin teased and yet she hugged Hyukjae. Donghae just grinned at the whole display of affection. Besides, it’s not as if they were not friends. Hugs are just a common thing.
The youngest one mentally slapped her head and grabbed her camera to take a picture of her two friends, “Okay guys! Look at the camera! Three, two.. one!”

It was during her fourth year in High School when Sungmin met the infamous Cho Kyuhyun. He was not a new student that time. He was just so silent, a bit creepy - mysterious, even. He was a great singer though and it was one of his live performances in the school’s auditorium that made Sungmin notice him.
When he passed by her during lunch at their table, she called out to him. The action surprised her best friends but then she told them she knows him. It was a good thing he heard her call and he turned to walk back.
“…Yeah?”
“Hi! Cho Kyuhyun, right? I’m Sungmin! Lee Sungmin.” She cheerfully replied handing out her hand. He looked surprised, she could tell, but he shook hands with her and introduced himself.
“This is Hae and Hyuk. They’re my best friends. Want to hang out with us?”
She judged him to be a bit fidgety at first but after a few weeks of lunch meetings and vocal lessons with him, he turned out to be a great guy. He was quiet, but understanding and snarky, but funny at the same time.
When the both of them decided to hang out in one Saturday, they spent the most of their time inside a music shop contemplating on different albums. After all, they shared the same passion which was music. They listened to different genres and sang along with some.
“Sing something to me.”
“Eh?”
Sungmin smiled, “Just anything.”
“Okay.”
She fell for him that day and there was nothing she could do about it.

“You’re being impossible. Sungmin’s having fun. Let her be.” Donghae threw her paper napkin at the overreacting Eunhyuk. “She’s happy.”
“…But she’s not happy with us!” The older one whined, pouting his lips in the process. He noticed how Sungmin only has lunch time in school to hang out with them. Fourth year was already ending and summer was coming. There would be lesser time to hang out with both of his friends.
“Yah, Lee Hyukjae. Stop being selfish will you. Sungmin never forgets us.” She could feel what he was feeling though. For the upcoming summer, Donghae has a workshop-slash-seminar thing for her photography classes. It would take the whole of her vacation and it depressed her how it was going to keep her away from her friends.
“Easy for you to say! You’re a girl, you’d know her better.”
“Argh, stop being a racist bastard for once, okay?” Donghae comforted him with a smile and brought out her camera.
Hyukjae’s eyes twitched as he saw the Polaroid. “Don’t you think you’ve had much pictures to last you a day, Hae?” He said covering the lens with his hands. “Seriously, do you not get sick of Polaroid? I swear, when I get a job, I’ll help you buy one of those DSLRs.”
His sincerity tugged something in her, but she just smiled sheepishly, “Shut it Hyuk, I bet I’ll get one before you could even get a job.”
“Is that a challenge?” The gleam in Hyukjae’s eyes drew a smile from her.
“Welcome to the game.”

Heartbreak.
It took a minute for the feeling to sink in Sungmin’s mind as she stared at Kyuhyun for so long; she could already burn a whole on him.
“Min?”
“…You’re leaving?”
Before Kyuhyun could respond, Hyukjae, who was beside Sungmin, stared at him in surprise. At first, the two guys were a bit awkward to each other, but when Sungmin got them to bond and all, they already treated each other as good friends.
“I have to. My parents require me to further my studies abroad.”
Since it would seem that Sungmin lost her ability to speak, Hyukjae continued on, “For how long?”
“Years, I guess. At least until I could graduate college.”
“Oh, well.. good luck man. Keep in touch.”
Sungmin felt like slapping the older man. How could this be happening? She already liked him and she was planning to confess - and now this.
When Hyukjae left them, Sungmin felt Kyuhyun’s stare on her.
“Hey, Min. It won’t be that long.”
“Years.”
“Yeah, I know, but I’ll be back.”
“Really.”
“Okay, at least don’t reply with just one word! I’d hate to leave Min. I like life here already… Here, with you.”
Hope blossomed in her chest, “You swear?” His reassuring smile contented her.
After all, he will be back. That’s what he said.

It has been two months since she left for her Photography seminar. It was enlightening, how she learned the art behind it. Every lesson was learned well and Donghae was ecstatic to showcase her new skills. This is the career she’ll go with and she likes it so much.
Skipping towards the gate of her apartment, she noticed a middle-sized box held by a man in a yellow and red ensemble.
Fedex. His cap read and as Donghae neared, he saw her and greeted. She greeted back in return.
“Lee Donghae sshi?”
“Err.. yeah.”
“This package is addressed to you.” He handed her the box and she accepted it, signed on some sheet of paper and thanked the delivery man.
She looked at the box wrapped in plain white paper and opened it slowly. A small card fell as she opened it and she picked it up.
I worked my ass off for this camera. I better win in this game. - Hyukkie

Donghae was not aware as to when, how and where. However, she knew that the approaching Hyukjae and Sungmin holding hands was a new sight to her.

DON'T KILL ME. PLEASE. JUST NO. Okay, so obviously, this chapter served as some sort of flashback. Done this in one sitting (again. because I'm bored). Bear with the grammatical errors and misspellings please? This was not beta-ed XDDDD
The chapter was pretty short and a bit vague... I think I fast-forwarded the scenes too much, I'm trying to put a certain style in writing. I hoped it worked. If some scenes tend to be weird to you, feel free to ask :D I'll answer it the best way possible. TWO MORE CHAPS TO GO!!!
Your comments would be very much appreciated ^^
