Is this considered an early update? HAHA! Thank you for those who have waited ^^ I dedicate this chapter you, my patient readers ^^

Once again, this was not beta-ed so I apologize for the grammatical errors and misspellings that you may find. Have fun reading!

---

It has been almost a week.

At least that’s what Sungmin thought of as she eyed her two roommates where one was on their small couch and musing over some music sheets while the other was eating her brunch which consisted of tuna, tuna and more tuna.

So everything is normal, was it not?

The dark brown haired girl begs to differ. This scene would never be normal especially when Ryeowook is currently sorting out her music sheets, more like tearing most of them and a few sheets remain on the coffee table, untouched, whereas Donghae is currently using her chopsticks to stab the poor, already dead, cooked and about to be eaten tuna.

These two were not her roommates. The roommates she had consisted of a crazy brunette and a soft-spoken girl. Ever since Monday, the two did not bother telling her on why they skipped classes. Sure, they meet during breaks but either one would not speak a word. It was weird how a day changed these two and Sungmin did not bother asking them about it at all. She was waiting for at least one of them would talk to her, but no. They did not.

So Sungmin decided that she has had enough.

“Cut the crap. What is happening?” She stated hoping it was loud enough for Ryeowook to hear. Sungmin was currently leaning on the doorframe leading to the bedroom and it was nearer to the dining table than the couch.

Sungmin was sure they heard her, so why are they continuing on doing what they were doing for the past ten minutes?

‘Okay. That’s it.’ She thought.

“Hae, if you continue this.. I will call Kibum in an instant!!!!” She threatened her friend with the pink phone on her hand and an I-am-not-kidding look written all over her face.

Well, it looks like it worked seeing how her friend suddenly tensed and Sungmin swore that she saw Donghae’s eyes widen a bit. It worked so well that a feeling of guilt arose inside Sungmin as if she just mentioned the wrong words.

Then it hit her. Rushing towards the dining table and sitting on the wooden chair right beside the brunette, Sungmin looked at Donghae who just looked down seemed to lost the appetite and ability to stab the tuna any further. “It’s Kibum, isn’t it??? What’s wrong Hae?! Is he fine? Are you..?”

She noticed the grip the latter had on the chopsticks, “Donghae.. What is happening with-’’ She was cut off when the chopsticks snapped and she held the gaze of a furious yet sad looking best friend.

“Kibum… He b-broke u-up… with m-me..” Sungmin heard Donghae say and despite it being almost a whisper, she noticed that Ryeowook stopped what she was doing over the couch and proceeded to sit on the other side of Donghae where she placed a comforting hand on the brunette’s shoulder.

They both watched how Donghae bit her lower lip to control herself from whimpering at the onslaught of emotions, but tears were already forming in her eyes which proved that it would not be long until she starts breaking down.

Sungmin heard the comforting whispers of Ryeowook and silently thanked the Heavens for having Ryeowook by her side. Sungmin knew for a fact that comforting someone was not her forte especially in these situations wherein a broken heart is trying to mend itself. Deciding to do something else, Sungmin stood up and went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water for Donghae.

Returning immediately after, she noticed how her best friend was shaking and tears were continuously flowing down her already red cheeks. Honestly speaking, Sungmin hated the position Donghae is in. She knows that Donghae completely adored, loved even, Kibum and yet, she also knows that Kibum is not an unreasonable person. He would dare not break Donghae’s heart for some random reason especially when he knows what will happen to him after.

So here she was, contemplating on how to fix the entire situation.

“Min,” She heard Ryeowook call out to her. The black haired girl gave her a what-do-we-do-now look all the while still comforting Donghae who would just not stop crying. The pink lover side and grabbed her friend’s shoulders to start shaking her.

“Listen, Hae… It’s not the end of the world! Kibum… Kibum’s just a boy who probably have his own reasons and.. and… maybe, it’s about time the two of you broke things off and-” Donghae cut her off.

“He chose me over his acting Min!!! All the while he cared for those dramas and… I told him it’s okay, that everything could still work out and.. MIN IT’S JUST SO UNFAIR!”

“It’s not unfair Hae! It’s just how things are!! He probably doesn’t want you to-” Sungmin was cut off and she has enough of it

“He’s so selfish! I cannot believe it!! I became the patient, under-”

“YAH, LEE DONGHAE. If he’s being selfish, then you’re more selfish!”

“What is that supposed to mean?!”

“It’s just a matter of respect Hae! You respect his decision. If he can’t go through with this, then I think it’s about time you let go because you’re acting as if you own him when in fact, you don’t!”

“I. AM. NOT. SELFISH.” Donghae replied standing up and looking down at her. “You’re my best friend Min, why are you being like this???”

Sungmin decided to stand up also to look at her straight in the eye, “Because you sound like an idiot in a one-sided romance that ceased to understand the other party!” They glared at each other, not one backing down.

“Guys, guys, GUYS! Calm down! We’re not supposed to be fighting like this!” The reprimanding tone of voice coming from the soft-spoken Ryeowook made Sungmin realize that she lost her patience.
She let Ryeowook lead them both to the couch where she sat in between them two.

“Now, we’ll discuss this as civilized people. We’re friends. We’re not supposed to get into fights. We must learn to understand each other.” The youngest one told them. It sounded like a warning, but it held a comforting and soft tone only she could make.

And this is why, Sungmin mused, she thanked the Heavens for Ryeowook’s presence.

“How’s your week so far Kyuhyun?” The voice brought Kyuhyun into his senses from the world of Starcraft as his gaze fell on Kibum. It had been six days since his enrollment and approximately five days ever since he set foot into his dorm room that he shared with Kibum and Henry.

His roommates were okay. They were not the best but they were not the worst either. They provided him with the space he had needed, been there most of the time whenever he asks questions about college life in the university. Personally, he felt small compared to the other two since they were the school’s representatives in acting and music. Not that he is one for popularity but it could get quite intimidating at times.

Deciding to reply he said, “It’s okay. Everything seems normal. Should I be worried over something?”

Kibum just flashed him a grin, “None that I know of. Hey, listen… Henry and I are participating in this play tomorrow evening. We have complimentary tickets, wanna have one? I got spares since I kinda did something stupid a few days ago.”

Now this caught his attention, “Like what?”

“Breaking up with my girlfriend.”

“Oh.” Then he whistled. “For what reason?”

“Lack of time. It’s hard to keep up with her while I’m busy doing plays. It just feels… kind of unfair for her or something. I just thought of what might happen if I keep this relationship so I decided to just end it.”

The gamer just nodded and accepted the small envelope from the actor. “I bet she told you that she’s willing to wait for you.”

“Yeah. She did but I didn’t want her to.”

“Tough choice.”

“I know.”

Kibum proceeded to look at some magazines whereas Kyuhyun looked at the contents of the envelope and found out that there were two tickets inside. “Two?”

“You’d probably want to bring a date?” Kibum replied busying himself with some articles.

Kyuhyun raised a brow, “You’re kidding, right?”

“Then just bring Hyukjae. Haven’t seen that monkey in a while. Tell him that it’d to do me such an honor if he could at least show himself on one of my plays.”

Switching his gaze from the tickets to his roommate, he replied, “Okay, I’ll tell him. It’ll depend though. He has work in the café.”

He saw Kibum open his mouth for a reply but the sound of their doorbell made both pairs of eyes stare at the doorway.

“I’ll get it.” Kyuhyun muttered, standing up from the couch.

---

Leeteuk was at a loss. She tried numerous ways on how to get that ring from the sink but apparently, none of them worked. When Heechul decided to intervene and called the plumber, nothing happened either.

Now, she’s left thinking of how an idiot she was and how it’s going to kill her if she couldn’t find that ring any time soon. Walking back and forth behind the counter, she thought of other things to do.

“I swear, another step from you is going to drive Heebum and I nuts.” Her colleague, Heechul said from one of the chairs provided behind the counter. It was lunch break for the both of them so they had some of the workers handle the business first.

The light brown haired woman looked at her friend, “How can I calm down? I lost it, I lost it.. It’s now gone.. and… and I can’t do anything about it…”

“Look, it won’t be gone for too long okay? We’ll find it.”

“It’s been a week!”

“Then get over it! It’s just a ring Leeteuk, just a ring. Unless of course it’s the engagement ring that you lost, I mean -” The black haired woman stopped blabbering and finally focused her attention to her colleague. The silence between them proved her assumptions.

Placing Heebum down the floor gently, Heechul stood up and held the gaze towards Leeteuk, “You mean, you lost the ring KangIn gave you?!”

The nod Leeteuk let out was enough for Heechul to form an ‘O’ with her mouth and scream loudly, “Hankyung!!!!! Get down here!”

---

“Hold it.”

The husky tone of Henry’s voice teacher, Kim Jongwoon resounded through the class and he swore, the girls inside the room were almost squealing in delight.

Saturday make-up classes were not really his thing. Actually, voice classes should not even be part of his class schedules because he is a violinist, not a singer. However, he is taking the music path therefore, he needs this. No matter how much he did not want to.

On the other hand, he has yet to adjust to the new teacher. The sudden change was definitely unexpectedly. Usually, an announcement should have been made to the whole Music department regarding the change of teachers but this new teacher came suddenly. Surprising the majority of students and yet, delighting the female population.

“You’re not supposed to be using your falsetto. It ruins the whole song.” It would seem that the remark was directed to him as when Henry looked up, the whole class, save for a few girls who were busy ogling their teacher, were looking at him and he sees the endpoint of the black baton which Jongwoon was using.

Another thing, singing never was his forte.

Gulping, he answered, “I’m trying sir-”

“Yesung. Just drop the formalities.”

There goes the sighs of contentment coming from his classmates “…Yesung sshi, I’m trying but I can’t reach the note.” He replied. It was true anyway, he may be a talented violinist but that does not mean that what he cannot do with his voice, he cannot do with the instrument.

“It’s because you’re not putting much effort into it. Where’s the passion?”

What passion? He wanted to ask but bit his tongue from doing so. He was after all, talking to a new teacher. One who may not take his comments lightly. “I’m trying sir. I’m really trying.”

“Then try harder. Where’s the point in music if you cannot even speak its language?”

That’s it. Henry though. He officially hated vocal lessons. However, he hates this new teacher more.

---

Hankyung literally jumped up in surprise, causing him to bang his head under the table he was in while looking for Leeteuk’s lost ring, when he heard Heechul’s yell. That woman seriously does not know when the right timing is.

Clutching his head and rubbing the sore spot, he muttered, “Aiissshh..” while mentally shouting Chinese profanities inside his head. What was it now?

Standing up and proceeding to the stairs, his eyes caught a certain object inside the trash bin. It was a box of cigarettes. Unopened.

Unable to hide his smile, he brought it until he got down and saw Leeteuk on the chair, head hung low as if in defeat and Heechul walking back and forth in front of her both looking as if such a big problem has formed itself and made way inside the café

“What’s happening?” He asked with a Chinese accent. It usually makes them smile to hear him speak the foreign language with his mother tongue but it was different now, the two were still looking worried and anxious about something.

Finally, Leeteuk noticed him and gave him a small reassuring, but he’s not going to fall for that, smile as she got a hold of Heechul who just could not stop walking and pointed at him. Heechul stopped walking and glanced at Hankyung and she looked as if a thought sank in her.

“Leeteuk lost her ring.” She said and Hankyung just nodded dumbly thinking about the fact that it happened days ago. “Err… yes, about that ring, I couldn’t find it anywhere in the house.”

It would seem that he would be in trouble in a matter of seconds judging by the sad look that graced Leeteuk’s face and the animosity in Heechul’s face doubled. He fears for his life now.

“How could you not find it??? It must be found!”

“But it’s just a ring! I could get Leeteuk a ring any time if she wants.” It was somewhat true though, he had always considered Leeteuk as an older sister and it was discomforting if he sees anyone he treats as family sad.

The brown haired woman just smiled at him sadly while he swore he saw Heechul’s eye twitching. “What?” he asked again. Really, these women, you cannot get their answers for the first time you ask them.

“You’ll get her one? Then, go back in time when Kangin proposed to her and get that ring he gave her!”

“Eh?”

Dear Mr. Cho Kyuhyun

We have written this letter to inform you about your excellent skills in Calculus that we hope you could share to the students who are currently in need of your help. We are aware that you have are new to our school’s system but we are sure that you are familiar with the Study Hall.

The Study Hall is a two-hour meeting held in our school’s library thrice a week. It caters to students whose grades are lacking in certain subject areas. Our student organization devised this plan in order to help these students through the guidance of other students, like you, blessed with good skills in the different subject areas.

Please do not think of this as an obligation but an opportunity to give. We do not require this from you, but taking this chance would guarantee you certain opportunities in terms of grades and class standing. In addition, if you continue and excel in doing it, you could actually take part in our student faculty, which is somewhat similar to the actual professors of this school. Do think about this seriously, we hope to be hearing from you soon.

Sincerely yours,
The Academe

“PUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-”

Twitch. “Shut it.”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-”

Twitch, twitch. “Hyukjae, you-”

“AHAHAHAHAHAHA-”

“I SAID SHUT IT!!!” Kyuhyun went berserk as he threw the block of ice inside his glass of coke at his red-haired friend. It brought him a moment of satisfaction when it hit his friend’s opened right eye and he began moaning in pain. “Serves you right!” He added while crossing his arms, an annoyed look etched all over his face.

The red head glared back, still rubbing his sore eye, at the younger one. “You… pesky, confounded, out-of-this-world, irritating-”

“Wow, such strong words coming from you hyung.”

“Argh! I was kidding. I’m amazed Kyu. It’s only been a week and you’re under the heated gaze of The Academe..” He emphasized on the last two words which drove the other nuts. “But seriously though, this is a rare offer. You should take it.”

Hyukjae heard the younger one huff. “I don’t want to.”

“Eh? Why?? You’re seriously being unreasonable here Kyuhyun. If you’re just skipping this kind of responsibility for your games then you better not -”

“It’s not that.” Kyuhyun replied playing with the straw from his glass, making random circles on the table. They were on one of the tables outside Heebum’s café since it was Hyukjae’s shift already. Both of them stayed quiet for quite some time looking at the people walking around during the afternoon.

“I didn’t go back to Korea to play. I’m here to prove something.” Kyuhyun broke the silence as he stared at the horizon. The older one just smiled and nodded staring at the distance also. “My dad can just drag me back to China any time he wants to, but that won’t come true unless he sees me doing my end of the bargain.” Kyuhyun added, suddenly remembering his purpose of coming back.

“I know. However, this chance might just help you. Not everyone’s as smart as you in Calculus.”

“Yeah, people like you Hyuk.”

“Okay, I take back that compliment.”

“Feh.” The younger one replied contenting himself with good thoughts. “What do you mean, it’s going to help me?” He asked, sounding extremely curious.

Hyukjae adjusted his apron and said, “I can pull a few strings with the Calculus department head. Make this whole Student Hall thing adjustable for you. Like, you pick your own student to teach, any time you want. You can even get pay from it even.”

This was starting to sound interesting to Kyuhyun, “Why do you sound so confident?”

“You’re talking to the son of the College department’s head Kyuhyun. Don’t mess with him.”

“Hmph, as if I’d want to do that. You are the one messing around here. How sure are you that I could teach a student who is willing enough to pay me?” He asked, challenging his hyung.

Apparently, that gleam on the older one’s eye looks as if he knows the answer, “Oh, that. I know someone desperate enough that she’ll be willing to pay a Calculus genius in order to pass.”

---

Five hours after the whole Kibum-broke-up-with-me moment with Donghae, Ryeowook found herself sitting on their couch and making herself comfortable on the softness of its surface. They managed to calm Donghae down an hour after her breakdown but it took them a couple of hours more to make sure that she was not going suicidal on Sungmin and her and just take a nap.

It was tiring to say the least as the ebony haired lady looked up the clock and read that it was just 3pm, just in time for some snacks but she was not in the mood as of yet. Sungmin walked out of their shared room and proceeded next to the TV, looking perplexed and at her.

“What?” The younger one asked, feeling uncomfortable.

Sungmin just nodded at the door leading to their shared room, “Now that Donghae’s story is up, I think it’s about time I should ask about you? You’re acting weird… like her.” Her roommate asked and Ryeowook knew that she was right.

But she also knows that this was not the time to tell her.

“It’s a bit complicated Min, but I’ll tell you when I’m ready, okay?” It took a while for a reaction from Sungmin, but eventually, she received a nod and a small smile. Ryeowook mentally thanked the heavens for making Sungmin such a patient person.

‘You have a message! You have a message! BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEE-’

Ryeowook grabbed the pastel green phone from the coffee table and checked her inbox. Her heart did a double-take as she read the latest message.

Where are you? - Y

Knowing that Sungmin was watching her, she raised her head and saw that the brown haired roommate of hers looked at her curiously. She just smiled and said, “Parents. Asking me how I am.” It would seem that Sungmin accepted her reason and just nodded but the sudden ring of their doorbell made the latter proceed towards the doorway.

Ryeowook focused her attention on her phone and started typing down her reply.

---

Sungmin forced herself to walk towards the door. Personally speaking, she wanted to ask Ryeowook about her own problems but decided to keep it to herself for a while. For now, she decided to trust her friend. Ryeowook will tell her what happened when she is ready. She will hold her onto that.

Opening the door, she found a panting Henry just outside their doorway holding out a small envelope towards her face.

“Noona!” the violinist greeted broadening his smile.

“Oh, Henry. Hi! What’s this?” She took the small envelope from him and opening it, revealing three tickets to a play tomorrow evening. “Is this the play you’re practicing hard for?” When she saw him nod, she replied, “These cost a lot Henry! How were you able to purchase three?”

“They’re complimentary ones. Not the best seats since I had to give mine to my family, but I took this from Kibum hyung! You all get to sit together since the seats given to us were according to the arrangement so don’t worry.” Henry replied back. Sungmin flinched a bit at the mention of Kibum and thought that she could not watch this play for the sake of Donghae.

However, that expectant look on Henry made her think otherwise.

“Thanks so much Henry! Ryeowook and Donghae would definitely appreciate this.” She found herself telling him and she knew that he was ecstatic. She regrets the decision she made now.

“That’s good! Anyway, I gotta go attend our last rehearsal, just rushed here to drop those. See you tomorrow!” And with that, he left her. The door was still open and her gaze never left the tickets.

The only problem now is how to get Donghae to watch this play.

---

Why do you have to know? - R

Yesung cursed. Well, that was expected and he did deserve that kind of reply from his girlfriend, but they need to talk things out now and he was desperate to do it.

You’ve been avoiding me all week. - Y

I don’t skip classes. - R

Well, that’s another case. - Y

It is. - R

It took him a minute to think of a reply until a certain event for tomorrow evening came to his mind.

Watch the play with me tomorrow. - Y

I don’t want to. - R

Hell be damned, talking to her is going to be harder than he thought.
