I have always had a habit of counting down to things and knowing exact dates. Really frequently I imagine myself in the halfway point between two events, and compare how quickly things have passed with how much longer I have to wait. It's always the same amount of time, obviously. What I mean is this: in two weeks I will have just landed at JFK. Compare that with two weeks ago, which was the Homerun Derby when Downtown SF was buzzing and I was busting my ass and serving gelato to impatient kids. It was not long ago at all, and New York is speeding towards me. I'm really scared of it. I can swerve and avoid a head-on collision, which I did last time I went back, but it's going to be a lot harder this time. And maybe this time I just want to suck it up and cross the finish line.

It's a shame that this summer is ending so soon because it's been truly incredible. Luckily I'm looking forward to everything else that this city has in store for me.

This was the first Sunday I've had off since I began working, and it was nice to finally treat something as a "real weekend." Actually, it was very similar to every other day I've had off, except Greenie stayed over last night and we had brunch at Magnolia this morning. Aside from that I had a very typical day off, complete with Dolores Park and a cappuccino.
