Here's to random road trips to reformed christian communities! My first taste of Hope college (Shannon's FORMER university) was quite interesting, due to the large number of people in traditional Dutch costumes. Now I thought for a second that this might be common practice there, until I realized it was "Tulip Time." Parades, dutch apple pie, wooden shoes, and miles and miles of tulips, oh my! It was hilarious and a true anthropological study;) I think Shannon's friends were weirded out by the fact that I was so curious about the Dutch culture...("I have been here 2 years and I have never read that sign!") It really is a gorgeous place; a TAD too conservative for me, besides I don't have blond hair and my last name isn't Van Strauss. (hmmm or is it?)It was very nice to get out of Brighton and to see western michigan with my lucky lady Shannon ;)
