Personally, Easter bores me.
You feel bad if you don't get eggs because it means you're not loved, and you feel bad if you do because chocolate is taboo for most women, and when eaten brings on strong feelings of guilt. Then again, this is just reinforcing consumerism. It's like, if you spend money it means you love said person. It's only money, but people are blinded by mass consumerism. Here's proof that capitalism is alive and well :)
The holiday, in a personal opinion, is a corporate holiday nowadays, and is just an attempt to get money from people believing what they are told. I mean, it's sick how people are celebrating the death of their Lord with mass amounts of chocolate- it just surpasses me. Then again, the Easter holiday itself is actually a Pagan holiday of fertility, the Spring Equinox and if memory serves, it's called Ostara or something. Same as Hallowe'en is the Pagan Samhain or Autumnal Equinox and Christmas is the Pagan Yule or Winter Solstice. It was an attempt to replace Paganism with Christianity. Oh sure, maybe Jesus was crucified during the Jewish Passover, which is in early Spring. It's just an observation on a recurring coincidence.
Well, have fun in your celebrations, I don't think Easter is a total waste of time- I mean, it brings people together (sometimes, I suppose) and as a bonus you get off school :3
