so today I went to the beach with Steven to eat a sandwich and while we are pulling up we see all of these firetrucks, ambulances, and coast guard vehicles parked by the beach so we are all "what's going on?" Steven assumes the worst straight away, but I tried to be a little more optimistic. I am great in panic situations because I always say, "No one freak out until we know what is going on." I should be a consular or something. Anyway... while we are eating the sandwich we see all of these boats circling this somewhat small area of water looking down for like 20 minutes, then the dive team shows up. By this time we had gone down to the water to see if it was warm, which it was. It was becoming quite clear that they were looking for a body.
It was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. It honestly made me sick to my stomach to watch.
One of the Coast Guard boats started yelling then a diver rushed over there and started going down to look for the body. It turns out that it wasn't one, but while I was watching that I seriously felt like I was going to vomit. The Coast Guard helicopter showed up and was also circling the area, then hovered right over us. The noise of the helicopter put me over the edge. The idea of seeing a child pulled out of the water dead was a little too much for me to handle, so we left.
it was really messed up. I can't find anything about it on the news yet. I didn't see any news there but I am sure that story would be in the paper or on TV. I was there for over an hour so I am not optimistic about it being a rescue. I hope I never have to see anything like that again.
I guess I couldn't work in the emergency medical field. Much respect to people that do.
There were so many people on the beach just watching. Why do people do that? They knew what they were going to see, which is one of the most terrible things you could ever see. I don't get it.
