I knew when I woke up this morning that this day had the potential to end very badly for me.
I was right.

Technically, I'm not allowed to watch Harry Potter. Read the books, yes, watch the movies, no. Why? I have no idea. I think it's the stupidest thing in the world, so I don't comply. I've seen all the movies lots of times in spite of my parents.

Mum just got Facebook, and she checks it like every hour. I had an ominous feeling that this could be bad for me, and so I knew that from then on I'd have to watch what I posted. I still do.

Anyway, my friends and I had been planning for weeks to go see Half-Blood tonight, and it all went off fine. At school my best friend told everyone not to mention anything about seeing Harry Potter with me to make sure Mum wouldn't find out. So, that was all cool, and everything was fine until we came out and I rang Mum to ask her to pick my best friend and I up. And it went a little like this.

MUM: Hello, *** speaking.
ME: Hey, Mum, could you come and pick **** and I up, please?
MUM: Yep, where are you?
ME: Um. At the movies.
MUM: Ah, yes. How was- how was Harry Potter?
ME: *Pales and eyes widen* ... Um. Good...
MUM: Mmhmm...
ME: So, can you pick us up?
MUM: I'll be there soon.
ME: Thanks. *Hangs up*.

Well, crap.

I told my friends, and for the next twenty minutes or so we mildly freaked out about it. Anyway, Mum turned up and she didn't look very angry so I thought it might be okay.

We got into the car (my best friend, and I) and there was an awkward silence, before Mum started driving. And then she said...

MUM: So, how did I know?
ME: I don't know, did you know? I thought you might be guessing.
MUM: I knew.
ME: Um. Facebook?
MUM: *laughs* Yes. A certain acquaintance of yours updated their status as 'can't wait for two exams to be over so we can see HP6!'
ME: I knew it'd be Facebook!
BEST FRIEND: *groans*.
ME: What?
BF: Oh, Rach! It was me!
ME: What? Really?
BF: Yeah, it was before I said that thing about no one mentioning it on Facebook! I'm sorry!

Lol, irony. Anyway, somehow we just all laughed about it while we went shopping, and then after we dropped my friend home Mum started talking about the TV shows she watched when she was little (it made sense in context, hehe) and she was talking about Casper, and said, 'There's nothing good about witches.' I just said, 'Alright,' and nothing more was said on the topic of Harry.

Sometimes I'm so glad my parents have some sort of fear of confrontation. That being said, I thought they did a brilliant job with this one. I liked it much better than Order. That movie was lame. I was sceptical about the lack of a Hogwarts battle and Dumby's funeral, but I think it really worked. It was dodge that Harry and Gin never actually got together, but it was good that she still comforted him by Dumby's body. I suppose it made sense, but I was still thinking 'Screw you, Gin!' when she said that their kiss could stay a secret as well as Snape's potions book. The Ron and Hermione stuff was so adorable though. Really gorgeous.

Apparently, I'm going to see it again, tomorrow!

movie: half-blood prince, rl: real life, novel series: harry potter
