Diets and such

I've learnt something really important this week - and I can't believe it took me this long to learn.

The feeling you get from sticking to your diet and contributing towards your weight loss is MUCH BETTER than the feeling you get from eating junk food. Think about this next time you start to crave Maccas.

I never thought about it before. Lately I've been going to the gym alot and really watchig what I eat. I've been trying as hard as I can to fit in as many veggies into my diet as possible, and drink loads of water. In fact I haven't had anything to drink besides water for around two weeks now. I've been eating at more salad places in the food court and have replaced most sweet treats with fruit. And since I don't really eat sweet stuff in excess, I'm not overdoing it on the fruit either. Two fruit and five veg a day is my goal. For the last week I've been managing an average of two fruit and three veg a day. But I can improve.

So yesterday I was in Glenelg and I saw the Copenhagen Ice Cream shop which I absolutely LOVE. It's the greatest thing since Sliced Bread. You get a thick choc-dipped waffle cone with your choice of yummy ice-cream flavours with optional whipped cream, hot chocolate fudge and nuts. It's basically a cone full of calories. Delicious, delicious calories. I suddenly wanted one. But then that's when I had my epiphany. If I got that ice-cream I'd enjoy it while it lasted, but afterwards I'd feel guilty and shitty about ruining my diet. It's one thing to have a small piece of chocolate but it's quite another to eat a massive waffle-cone icecream.

I went and bought an apple from one of the fruit places and it was delicious. And what felt even better was knowing that I didn't ruin all my hard work, which put me in high spirits for the rest of the day.

I'm not saying I'll never eat Copenhagen again - I'm just saying I'll probably wait until a really great day in Summer. When I'll have lost like three kilos.
