I'm feeling a little more accomplished today. Jade came over last night to help me look over some Centelink stuff and we're going to go make an appointment with them next week. Afterwards we watched The Librarians and The United States of Tara and bummed around for a while laughing about random crap. It was great. :)
I've spent most of the morning and afternoon applying for jobs. I've also realised as the idiot I am that there was one job website I wasn't checking, which was careerone.com. The only ones I was looking at were Seek, MyCareer and Australian Job Search. Through Career One I found a Journalism Internship with the ABC that starts at the beginning of next year.
They said they want people with University degrees (doesn't have to be Journalism) or Media experience... and I've got a degree which majors in English. I've filled out an application form the best I can, and I have to write four short essays (roughly 300 or 450 words each) for them. Hopefully I get it. Pray for me and stuff. If I don't get it, at least I'll know I went for it.
I was reading the transcript of Obama's latest speech to the schoolkids (you know the one that the conservatives were all "OH NO HE'LL MAKE OUR KIDS COMMUNISTS when all he was gonna say was 'work hard and stay in school'?) and it actually inspired me. If I don't get it then I'll just have to try again and again until I get something. Like he said, JK Rowling was rejected loads of times before her book got published.
Tomorrow I'm getting up bright and early, going to the gym, coming home and working on those essays.
Tonight I'm going shopping with Ali. Yay!
