Enjoy your stay in Adelaide - try not to burn to death.

Greetings from my apocalyptic city where our town is literally melting in this unholy heat-wave. Courtney, who works with me, showed me her shoes, which had literally melted at the bottom and burnt her feet. Blackouts have been happening all over Adelaide and the hospitals are full of people who are suffering from heat-stroke. I was at Marion with Ben and there was a blackout - the entire shopping centre went down. No eftpos, no air-conditioning. I was hoping that people would freak out and resort to cannibalism but you can't have everything.

For those of you who don't know, it's literally been 40-45 degrees every single day for at least a week. One or two fourty degree days in a week is hell enough. We've had heat-waves with every day over thirty two degrees - but we've never seen anything like this before. Entire suburbs are literally blacking out every day, sometimes for over twelve hours, and the elderly are dying from the lack of air-conditioning that the blackouts cause. The news even reported that people are calling up and complaining that their smoke alarms keep going off during the day, just because of how hot it is. Thank God we have a pool, which I've been in every single day. As for airconditioning, our system is really shit. The lowest we can ever get the temperature inside the house is around thirty degrees. Thankfully Tilzy has been alright. I've been making sure she's kept cool and we've been giving her plenty of baths.

At work we have airconditioning, but it's practically useless in this sort of unholy weather. I spent the first half of my shift yesterday thinking of reasons NOT to take all my clothes off and throw water all over myself in an attempt to cool myself down.

This heat-wave is pure evil, but on the plus side I've got an awesome tan (with sunscreen of course).

But I can't wait until this hell is over.
