I put a spell on yooou and NOOOW you're miiiiiine
Susannah has been trying to get me to watch Hocus Pocus for ages and it just happened to be on TV heaps late last night. Have you ever had a movie that you know is not that mind numbingly awesome but you saw it as a kid and thought it was? And because of that, it makes the movie mind numbingly awesome?
My mind-numbingly awesome kids movie was Jumanji. That movie blew my mind when I was eight. (or was I nine? I think I was nine) The game itself and what it did to people terrified me in the best way possible. I loved the ending how those kids heard the drumming on the beach. I always felt a tingle go down my spine when I knew the game would keep trapping people. Whereas I watch it today and instead of going "OMG THIS MOVIE KICKS ARSE" I go "Hehe. Memories. Hey look, it's mini-Kirsten Dunst." Although I still laugh when the cop guy's car keeps getting messed up.
I never saw Hocus Pocus until last night, but I KNOW that if I had seen that movie when I was eight I would've absoloutely fell in love with it, gotten emotionally attached to it and today would own it on DVD and know every line off by heart. I love the bit where the little girl dressed as an angel goes up to them and says "Bless you" and they scream. ^_^
