How the Afterword should have read:
"Hello Doctor! We bought that plot in the graveyard and put a headstone there. We also got River's book published! But it's 1942 now and we're kind of bored, so come get us ya dunce!"
While I think it's an important part of the current incarnation's growth to be able to separate himself from Amy and Rory and take on new companions, this was an incredibly poorly conceived way of doing that.
