Amy: Don't graduate early. I'm on track to either graduate next semester if I work my balls off or have seven credits left to take fall 05. Meaning: I have to get all my letters of recomendation, a good GRE score, and a lot of luck all before the start of next fall. The more I talk to my professors, the more bleak getting into grad school looks. Like the comment "no one from the river falls sociology department has gotten into a phd progam at the UofM, Madison, UofChicago, Berkly, New School, or Seatle U" (First four are like the top four Soc. programs in the country and where I dream to go). Once I'm done with my internship at the Washington County Public Defenders Office this summer, the rest of the vacation is going to be spent trying to line up as many grad schools as I can, but it's scary. Like most of the big places (or good places) will put you through a formula which is: GRE+GPA+From a respected university. Shitty, anywho, not to scare you, but it sucks taking that realistic look at your options. Like "hmm, I can apply here and have them take my $100 dollar fee and toss my application in the trash" or I can find something else to do. And I don't want to be like everyone else "can't get into grad school, so I'll join the peace corp like I really wanted..." Oh well. Lots of options, but still scary, and coming up fast. ben a
