holy shit!
spore! EDIT: longer version of the video
here and downloadable
here brief summary -- will wright the creator of sims/ sims2 (and sims everything -- city, tower, copter, yes even zoo. All of which unfortunately, I had) talks about his latest simulation game SPORE in the video linked above. You have to watch the video to believe it. It starts off as an evolution game, where you the player, creates and modifies a single-celled organism that will, through the course of the game, evolve (with your help and the computer's) into: a fish, then a land animal, then a tribe, city, and eventually planet. Like all of the SIMS games, the outcome is a result of all of the choices you and your character made in the course of the game. For instance, adding a third leg to your creature may or may not have been a good idea, but his grapplehook nose is probably the reason why the entire planet is so violent and driven by war (I just made that scenario up). In other words, if your civilization ends up shitty you only have yourself to blame.
There is so much more to the game though, and the last part is so unexpected it just blew me away.Where you go from creating your planet in the game you have to find out for yourself by WATCHING THE VIDEO.
SO DO IT! WATCH THE VIDEO! It's actually been up for a while but I only just saw it now. And besides, this week's apple keynote was a lousy cheat so this will definitely definitely make up for it.
Also, EA games had annouced a while back that they would be developing a game that would play on the upcoming Nintendo Revolution as well -- could spore be it? It sounds like a fat chance but please let spore be it please.
