very very fun weekend! left saturday morning at 6 for santa cruz...to begin with, the campus is beautiful. it consists of a number of colleges spread out in what's pretty much a forest. the fields we played on were on top of a hill that let us see onto monterrey bay, mountains, and the town of santa cruz in the valley below the hill...absolutely gorgeous...
we played three games saturday, against UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, and a Stanford mixed team...we only sent one team, but it was mixed (both a-team and b-team guys)...the first day was pretty crappy, and we lost all three games...although we played a close game against stanford...i was fairly sucky for most of the day and managed to drop my one chance at scoring on saturday during the game against stanford.
on the plus side they had a bunch of free food for us all, including bagels, bananas, oranges, and nutella...never really realized how good nutella smeared all over a banana is...mmm
that night, we went to downtown santa cruz to see a movie...the only halfway decent film that was showing was the Legend of Zorro...halfway decent is an understatement...it sucked balls, but that was part of the fun i guess haha...and catherine zeta jones has some sort of elegant allure, even if she is married to a sack of bones.
sunday we played chico, cal poly, and santa cruz again...we beat chico and cal poly, but lost to santa cruz...i scored during the chico game and laid out for a catch, so that was cool! except i think the lack of sleep + lots of running started catching up with me and around the end of the 2nd game, and i was ready to go home...i got burned badly on a couple plays too, which sucked...
on the way home, we took highway 1 for part of the way...it goes up and down the coast. absolutely beautiful watching the sunset, because there was this big fog bank sitting right above the water, so you couldn't tell where the water ended, the fog bank began, and where the actual clouds began...i really really regret not bringing a camera with me...
all in all, really fun, and i got a hot farmer tan (which showed up pretty badly today when i shaved after my haircut, and had a very very noticeable sideburns line...oops)...now just have a polisci term paper, an evening with my brother on thursday hopefully, a tournament this weekend in oregon, and then home! YAY!
