and then there was the other side.

Despite the shitty morning, yesterday was really good. I forget that even though it wears me out, cooking makes me feel amazing. And yesterday was really a Day Of Cooking. Made the pie first, a chocolate pecan pie. It was a recipe I just pulled off the internet and it was pretty good, but it needs another level. Maybe cinnimon. Then I got to work on the marinade for the turkey, really just an olive oil infusion using garlic, peppercorns, and jalapenos. Threw the turkey in the fridge to marinate for a few hours, and got to work on making some wassail. Had a break, enjoyed a hot drink, and then started the long haul. We didn't have a whole turkey, just two legs and several white meat 'steaks', so I didn't have a lot of time while it was cooking to throw the rest together but in all I made:

the turkey
pan gravy (very spicy from the jalapeno marinade/baste)
mashed potatoes (just the plain fork-mashed w/ butter and milk kind)
sage and onion stuffing (mix + extras)
sweet potatoes (boiled then mashed and baked with a few secret ingredients)
sweet corn (cooked on the cob and then cut off to serve) and brussel sprouts
chocolate pecan pie
wassail (recipe-less messing about really)

I sadly forgot all about green bean casserole somehow, but I don't think we could have fit it in our tummies anyway!

Went to sleep at like 6pm, then woke up at about 1am to ... run Naxxramas. We were in there for SEVEN HOURS, and were 11/15 when we decided to call it quits. Ouch. But I got my first piece of T7, and it was fun! Then, I got two packages, one from my sister with a bunch of toys for Claire and a few treats for me, and a package from Lush because I alerted them to a faulty product (I didn't whine or bitch for free stuff either!) which contained much more than the messed up product! Free stuff = <3.

Now I need to finish that pie so I can start dieting to get ready for the Christmas FOOOOOODstravaganza.

happy, thanksgiving, family, packages, food, lush, wow, holidays
