Just felt like posting a few more reviews to stuff I've used recently.
Deep Sleep - Last week I used Deep Sleep shower jelly. Now, I used it during a cold bath (boiler is kaput) so I don't know if it really does help you sleep, because I was freeeezing and not at all relaxed. However, it has a really nice smell to it, tiny glittery sparkles that, at least in my case, didn't really stick to me (which is both good and bad) and I generally preferred it to Joy of Jelly, the other jelly I've used. I think this one is being temporarily suspended over the Christmas season to make space for Champagne Snow Showers and Jingle Jelly, but I'd recommend trying it if you can, especially if you can get a sample size.
Today we got to go to Olly's parents' house to have HOT WATER usage, so I decided to take some Lush. Here's the rundown of new stuff I used.
Godiva - Ok, I've used this before tonight but I haven't reviewed it yet. Let me start out by saying the smell is amazing. I've had this bar for a while (got it as a freebie a year ago) so I can't say about recent batches, but to me it brings to mind Easter morning, tons of lilies; it's supposed to smell primarily of jasmine. It lathered really well and as it's a 2-in-1 you don't strictly need a conditioner. I wouldn't recommend going without one if you have hair like mine, though. It makes me sad to use a conditioner after this, because the smell is amazing.
Retread - Again, tonight wasn't the first time I used this. I was coerced into buying this at a recent Lush splurge. Should never ask them how good their solid conditioners are, you'll end up buying a big container of their expensive stuff like me! I don't regret my purchase, but I don't know if I'll get this again. It's got a very strong smell to it, and not a particularly fragrant one. You can definitely smell the olive oils that are in it, but apart from that there doesn't seem to be anything in it to really serve as a fragrance itself. It feels a lot different than putting on conventional conditioners, as it doesn't make your hair feel slick, so it can sometimes be hard to tell if you've got decent coverage. You don't even really feel it when you're rinsing it out, but once your hair starts to dry you can see and feel the effects. This is a pretty heavy duty conditioner, and I wouldn't recommend it if you want volume. My hair tends to have far too much volume, and this really helps it lie flat and produces some nice loose waves instead of the frizzy curls I tend to get if I let it dry without brushing through afterwards. It really does make my hair super soft, but it's definitely for a certain hair-type.
Ma Bar - I don't think I'd ever tried this before tonight, and if I had I can see why it wouldn't particularly stick out in my mind. It's a really nice bubble bar but just not anything particularly special. It has a nice sweet smell, good for those who don't like the floral Lush stuff, and the colour wasn't too offputting (though I only used a portion of the full bar). The bubbles were plentiful as most BBs get, and the water was soft and moisturising. That said, I still prefer other bars to this and will probably save the rest of mine as a cocktail BB to use with my sweet-smelling bombs, rather than having it solo. It was good, just not awesome.
Ring of Roses - I got this buttercream with a box ages ago and just never used it. I don't know why- maybe because I just have never had a buttercream before and didn't know how nice they are. Mine didn't smell particularly rose-like, but then, it's an old product and I'm sure some of the smell has gone. The smell that was there was more citrusy and fresh than I had predicted, I was expecting overly floral tones, but this was much more refreshing. I have to admit I was surprised at how much it lathered when I used it, having read that the buttercreams have such a low soap content to conventional soaps and shower gels. It was really very nice, and I look forward to using the rest of it. It's made my skin very soft and happy!
Therapy - I mentioned this when i reviewed stuff last time but I didn't talk about it. Sue sent me this in a Christmas gift when I was pregnant, and I have to admit I didn't use it a whole lot. In retrospect, it was silly of me because I really love it now that I've been using it regularly. I got it out to try it out on my tattoo, as I ran out of the stuff I was given to put on it and I needed something that wasn't petroleum based. I'm now addicted to the neroli smell, which is relaxing and just makes you smile. I just wish I could get Olly to give me a real massage, rather than giving myself a half-assed one. That said, just using it on my arms and legs is so nice, and apparently it's good at removing scars and stretchmarks!
(Also used
Buffy, but I've already mentioned that over
here.)
