Look at this precious piece of gold!
Its gallant surface shining in the sun’s rays
I stare at it in awe, memorizing its every feature
Every crack, chip, streak, and color shade.
Of course it’s imperfect, similar to life.
So many flaws, errors, gaps.
But naturally, gold is beautiful
Just like life and the world.
As time goes on, however
It starts to collect dust.
It’s no longer as shiny and mesmerizing
As before when it was newly born
Which is the reason why
I must keep on polishing it
Making it the shiniest and most stunning
So that when it goes
I won’t regret not making it the best
It could be. When it goes
I won’t miss it
Because the image and memories
will stay in my heart
For the rest of my life.
Inspired by "Nothing Gold Stays" by Robert Frost.
Pfft, I didn't revise it, so it sucks. But it's what I think of... life's blissful moments of when you're a kid and teenager. Those times won't last forever, just like the gold. Those "golden days" will soon disappear before your eyes, so that only the memory remains - memories of the past. However, that doesn't mean that you can't make those days your happiest days of your life. Meaning, "polish" those moments in your teenage life where you have friends beside you rooting you on. It's a nice sensation, and if you make them as happy and joyful as you can, they'll stay in your heart and mind for the rest of your life.
happiness,
nothing gold stays,
