Money/Vacation

So, I totally made an impulse purchase a couple nights ago: I booked a super cheap flight to London next month! Holy smokes! I can't believe it!

I have mixed feelings, mostly due to finances, but I figure the timing is good. My current temp contract will be ending on October 14, so I don't have anything immediately lined up. I'll eventually have money again, right?? Who cares, 'cause I'm going to London!!

I'll be there October 19-29, meaning I get to see a show Justen's directing (which was a big incentive for me), Victoria will be there at the same time for a hair course, and hopefully there are not as many tourists! I don't want to cram too much into the trip, but I'm definitely hoping to sneak away to Paris for a few days. Jenn keeps telling me it will be one of my favourite European cities. I desperately want to see, among other things, the Hall of Mirrors... which reminds me, I should make sure it's open, because I heard it was shut down for renovations a while back!

This will be my first trip off the continent in 10.5 years (the last, and only, time before being Thailand)! I think I'm overdue, and if I don't go now, I'm not sure when I'll go. I have a great talent for talking myself out of spending money usually...

Now to crack down and search for a full-time job, and a new roommate. Sam is officially moving out, after a couple months of uncertainty. Argh... I know it's not his fault (a family medical emergency came up), but when I knew he was first contemplating moving out, I told him if he thought he was going to leave sooner than later, to move out by the end of August, as September seems to be a good month for finding people (students and professionals alike). I kept asking, and he reassured me that he would stay, and wouldn't ditch right after September. Sigh! If only Clem wasn't locked into such a high mortgage. If that wasn't the case, I'm sure he'd be willing to sell his place and move into mine, then I wouldn't have to worry about roommates. But, he'd lose so much money on it right now, and it's too far from an LRT or any main bus route for me to consider selling mine. Maybe he can find someone to rent the whole condo, but then there's the issue of his cats...

Money sucks!

But I'm going to London. :)
