Welcome to another monthly peek into Tess' life! I have been experiencing a lot of stress lately, but things are starting to shape up. The past eight months were bookend-ed with two periods of unemployment (about two months in total), and inbetween that, I was working for a temp agency, with less pay than what I've been making the past 3-4 years and no health insurance. A few months ago, I had to make the decision not to go to Europe with Jenn, as my unemployment forced me to dip into my savings almost entirely. The stress led toward other things, and most recently I've been worried as to whether I'd be capable of saving enough money to potentially move to Vancouver by the end of the summer.
Today I was offered an interview with Matrikon, which was recommended to me by Cindy's friend Michelle. I will be meeting with them tomorrow, but we already discussed pay (I'm pretty happy with the salary), and it sounds very promising. Plus, they have an office in Vancouver, so if things go good over the next couple months, I could maybe even request a transfer! Having all this as a possibility, even though it's not confirmed yet, has made me much happier and more relieved. :)
Things are going really good with me and Ken. I'm proud of him, he's doing well in his last semester and has a practicum lined up for next month in Nanaimo. They said they may offer him a job as a contractor after the month is up. I hope he enjoys it out there. :) If he's got room for me, we're going to drive out there together during the May long weekend (he starts the following Tuesday), and then I'll fly back. It'd be nice to make a mini-road trip out of it, but I'm sure he'll be busy right to the end.
Health-wise, I've still been lazy with the gym (been going, but only 1-2 times a week), but have been more conscious about what I eat, and I've lost 20 pounds. :) Go me!
I finished one of Kevin's headshots a few weeks ago, and have been working on Justen's Fringe poster. Feels nice to be doing something creative, and I've been pretty pleased with the outcome so far. :) Oh, and for Ken's birthday last week, I made him a Ken doll (UFO catcher-style with his Mii face)! It was my first major sewing project, and while it's nothing fancy, I'm pretty pleased with it! Ken has it sitting on top of his bed headboard. :) Ian helped a lot with the doll, so I definitely can't take full credit for it. He's one of those jack-of-all-trades guys that can pick up a new project and do it well.
Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment (been feeling 'blocked' or something, with sharp pains in my abdomen - might be stress, as it started when my last job ended, but it's getting very uncomfortable), followed by the interview, followed by hanging out with Amanda. :) Hoping to hang out with Christine and the gang this weekend before she leaves for her trip! On Sunday, Ken and I are having a games day with his friend Jenna. I love how my group of friends' love for board games rubbed off on Ken, and subsequently all of his friends. They all love Munchkin now.
Best be hitting the sack, Ken is already snoring up a storm beside me... hehe. Night folks. Wish me luck on the interview tomorrow. :)
