Childhood: The adult's lament

Sep 17, 2006 17:54

Today is my nephew's 12th birthday. Happy Birthday Tyler!

I remember sitting in my bedroom in our downtown house practicing my clarinet with Christine when my parents came in the room to tell me Tyler was born. Doesn't that make you feel old, Christine? hahaha XD

I had a splendid weekend! I feel kind of gross from the lack of shower but oh well, I feel like updating first. I can be dirty for a little while.

Friday after work, I went to Whyte Ave to pick up my new glasses. Having clear vision, coupled with my first pair of corrective lenses for astigmatism, was a little bit trippy. Things were too clear. There was also a slight hint of snow in the air. I headed downtown to start my journey to Pat and Tanya's, but since I was early I decided to stop into Starbucks and read the paper first. Well lo and behold, who should tap me on the shoulder but Kyla! I can't even remember the last time I saw her, but I'm sure it's been months. So I sat with her, Allan and Rob for an hour and had a great chat. :) I left to head up to Pat and Tanya's, where we watched movies for the rest of the night. I stayed the night and spent all of Saturday night having a Sailormoon marathon with Tanya! Oh man, I forgot how easy it is to get wrapped up in that show, or any anime for that matter. We stayed up all hours finishing off the R series from the point DIC stopped the dub, and have watched half of S. We also watched the last two movies Friday night. I left her off on a cliffhanger--unintentionally, but appropriate enough, for what anime experience would be complete without the frustrating cliffhangers??

Anyway, I had a lovely, relaxing weekend. :) I just talked to Terril and she wants me to watch the kids tomorrow and Tuesday while her and Sheridan go to the first two Oilers exhibition games. I'd like to go see one... =^^= Actually, Sheridan and Terril were trying to sell these tickets. They've made plans to use these ones now since they couldn't sell them, but they have two more sets for the 23rd and 27th. If anyone's interested, ask me for details.

Hockey starts in two and a half weeks!!

You know what's even scarier?

October is in just under two weeks.

O_O

It's Fall outside already though!! Man, it's cold!

Oh, my other neat adventure for today: when I left Tanya's, I decided to go to Londonderry first. I kind of wish I had a kid there so I didn't feel quite as silly but... they had a live taping of The Big Comfy Couch as part of a nation-wide tour they're doing, so I watched it! hahaha it was kind of cool. I think I saw Loonette the Clown a couple hours later without makeup, but it was hard to tell. She's tiny and looks kind of spunky, heh.

Yeah anyway... Tess' weekend: Sailormoon, Big Comfy Couch, and buying earrings at Claire's. I feel like such a kid hehe.

friends, family
