The Icon Meme, taken from my lovely
angelchan_2004!
If you want to participate as well (which you totes should):
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five (or four or three) of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.
If you want to reply but not play, that's cool too.
Neviril is a ridiculously gorgeous priestess pilot from my favorite anime, Simoun. In addition to being the main focal point of an insane Love Dodecahedron, she is the main reason for my lj interest "pink haired hottie mctotties." Her and her main love interest, Aaeru, are the icon second from the bottom on the right side of my userpics page.
This is a recently redone version of an icon I had lying around for more than a year. I made the original with a crappy youtube screenshot and was content using it until a few weeks ago, when someone gave me high quality caps of the cut shots, which I used to recreate this as closely as I could.
Sheeta and Pazu, the heroes of Hayao Miyazaki's "Laputa: Castle in the Sky." Their relationship is probably the sweetest I've ever seen. I know I've said it many times, but I can never get over how forcibly they remind me of Katara and Aang. They have a strikingly similar dynamic: fierce supportiveness, reckless protectiveness, and mostly innocent but very romantic tension.
The keyword and description lines come from Keane's
"Somewhere Only We Know" which I associate with my Miyazaki OTPs thanks to
this beautiful video.
Mamiina is another one of Simoun's priestess pilots. Not as ridiculously gorgeous or widely beloved as Neviril, but she has the most drastic and wonderful character arc of anyone in the series. I don't remember the last time I cried so hard. (see interest "why mamiina whhhyyy?" ) Her and her complicated love interest, Rodoreamon, are the icon directly to the right of this one on my userpics page.
The keyword line is a play on part of the last sentence of "The Great Gatsby." A major theme in Simoun is the transcendence of space and time, both in life and death. Which isn't a theme in Gatsby at all, but the line just seemed fitting.
Another recently remade version of an old icon. I decided to make her eyes redder and the rest of her duller because it looks crazier that way, and Katara is crazy sometimes. Not Azula crazy, but pretty damn crazy. And I love it.
Aaand yet another recently remade icon. The original was too dull and blurry, which seriously detracted from the epicness of this scene. The way she's looking at him here twists my heart every. single. time.
The keyword and description lines are mixed up lyrics from Avril Lavigne's
"Fall to Pieces" which reminds me of Katara/Aang because of
everlastingwillow's fantastic AMV.
Also, SPEAKING OF MEMES! I finally was able to fix my sound system this morning (YAAAAAY) so I'll answer the questions you guys asked for the voice post meme two entries back very soon!
I really need to stop doing all of these memes and start working on the shiltload of fanworks trapped in my head. Maybe next week?
