1. Tell you why I friended you. Because by the time we both signed up at LJ we were already really close friends! (ASN pm system >>>>> ASN threads, amirite?)
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc. Links. Yes, I'm aware how crazy broad that association is. But when I think of you I think of all of the things you've linked me to-- Kataang erotica, fanart, spoilers, wank, videos, jokes, etc.-- and all of the wonderful/lolarious/cracktastic conversations we've had about those things as a result.
3. Tell you something I like about you. Your humor. There's always a lightheartedness about you. Even when you post one-liners, they're so full of your personality. You're a delightful person to be around, and I'm so glad I know you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you. OMG TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. There have literally been HUNDREDS of messages on both ASN and FK. It's insane. But, if I had to choose, I'd say the best memories (besides all the flailing, natch) was when we talked each other through all of the shit that was going on in our lives. You're such a patient and genuinely caring person.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. Aside from Avatar ships, what ship is your all-time favorite and why?
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours. I really love your newest one (OH ZUKO) but I have to go with the classic "WHY YES, I AM MADE OF SEX." Because he is. He really, really is. <3
Before Avatar, I was not a shipper, actually. I mean I did not consider myself one, anyway, and really I there is still a part of me that does not.
I mean I like good romance stories in epic fantasies, which is part of why I love Miyazaki's movies. I just never really let myself see shipping as a seperate entity that is worthy of more respect than other story aspects, what tends to happen with many shippers.
I started into the fandom right after COD, it was mind boggling. Zutara shippers were both angry at the ending and more convinced than ever that Zuko and Katara would hook up. I watched the series again from the begining to see what they were seeing, and all that was there was Katara/Aang, everything they claimed was pointing tword Zuko/Katara was taken so far out of context it was mind boggling.
I started talking on the boards, posting thoughts and spec, defending Katara/Aang. I slowly started seeing and talking to you and other people who felt this strange urge to try see Avatar for what it was and enjoyed it.
Well that's me and shipping in a nutshell, I just had this desire to defend the story for what it was as opposed to what others wanted it to be, especially since what it is is pure contentrated awesome in animated form.
