So, I'm updating my journal mainly because I have nothing better to do, but also because it's been a while.
To begin with College is over, house mates are moving to the different parts of the world, and there are many who I will probably never talk to again which makes me kinda sad. The lease on the house in Troy is up the first of August, but Matt and Prince are both moved out and Steev and I are working on getting the house in order. Unfortunately my progress the past month has been very slow, which brings me to the next fun thing.
I got Mono!! I came down with symptoms around the first of the month, saw a doctor about a week later to see what was going on and got tested and confirmed to have mono. Then it went downhill fast.
One really cool thing among this was I got an interview for a job with an insurance company for a field engineering position, I called and set up an interview for the 12th.
At this point in time, Thursday the 7th, I hadn't really eaten anything for a couple days and was beginning to have trouble swallowing anything. on that Saturday my parents came and took me to the lake to keep an eye on me and see how I was doing. Come Sunday my health had deteriorated to the point I wasn't able to really even drink anything. My parents drove me home and I spent the afternoon in the ER getting 2 bags of IV fluids and some Pain killers, Vicadin and lidocaine. After my short stint in the ER I went home and tried to recover some more.
The whole recovering thing wasn't going that well for me, no real swallowing ability and so no eating and no real drinking of much of anything. At this point my throat was swollen enough to keep me from being able to talk. As you can imagine this would make interviewing for a job a little hard, and much to my chagrin, I had to have someone else call and postpone my interview. I went to the Doctors on Wednesday the 13th and from there they admitted me to the hospital. It turns out that not only did I have Mono, but I got some other infection as well.
I spent the next 2 days basically just laying around my hospital room with an IV stuck in my arm and the nurses taking blood from me every few hours. The gave me fluids, antibiotics, steroids, and some sweet pain-meds (morphine to be exact). By Friday I was feeling much better and the Doctor agrees and discharged me to go home.
For the next week or so I began on the road to recovery. I was well on my way to being back to health when Saturday rolled around and I broke out in a rash over my entire body. After more trips to the doctors I found out that I am evidentially allergic to the antibiotic I was on, Levaquin.
So now here I sit trying not to itch and get ready for vacation at the beach with my family. We rented a condo down on the Jersey shore in a place called Wildwood, we'll be there for a week starting Saturday.
I guess that's more than enough writing for on entry, I hope all is well with the all of my friends and, with any luck, I'll be posting again soon with pictures of the beach or some such.
Note: this is probably the Worst summer vacation I've ever had, also notably probably my last summer vacation ever, sweet...
