While waiting for Platinum Data movie, I was thinking a lot about the movie/novel plot.
It deals with two interesting and current themes: (in the near future) the traceability of every citizen by the cataloging of all the DNA, and -most of all- whether in the DNA spiral is already written everything about our own personality and the course of our own life or not.
In particular, I have been thinking and reading about the second issue (Is it already all decided in our DNA?) for years and years.
I have always wanted to understand if it is possible for me to change bad sides of my personality, always wanted to know whether being lesbian was already written in my DNA or not, for years I have been hoping to have the opportunity to swim upstream from my "genetic destiny".
So I'd like to translate in english just a couple of interesting parts of Platina Data as introduction to these topics.

Detective Asama Reiji: Not everything is determined by DNA.
Kagura: It is!

Is even this love...determined by DNA?
Well, and here it is the answer I'd like to write up.
The following is a short explanation by Italian Nobel Prize for work in neurology Rita Levi Montalcini.
She says: “The life of each human being is the result not only of his genes, but also of the surrounding environmental conditions. These conditions will influence the course of his/her life more than the actual genes.”
Actually, there are a lot of divergent opinions and research is still in progress.
Also, I know that it is simplistic to sum up this contemporary key topic in a few lines.
But, after all, this is just my opinion.
I'm still reading about it and I'm still trying to understand. And Rita Levi Montalcini is such an inspiration for me as a human being, and a source of pride as I'm Italian.
For now, I want to keep hoping (Platinum Data)Kagura Ryuhei is not right.
Not everything is determined by DNA.
Not our life. Not our love.
