Kind of bumming around Nanjing while I wait for my visa to come through. I'm kind of on city-arrest, because the Chinese government requires you to show your passport at all hotels and whenever you buy a plane ticket. I could take daytrips of course, but it seems easier to sort of bum around here until Mason and Larissa arrive.
Then to Beijing and Harbin we will go!
We'll have to remember to be back before Chinese New Year (when hotels fill and everything doubles in price) but until then we can really just wonder around a little. The train tickets are about $25 for a hard sleeper bunk per leg of the trip, so for $100 I'll be able to travel round trip. That's a trip of 2,744 miles (Nanjing to Beijing 718 miles, Beijing to Harbin 654 miles), or roughly the distance from Boston to Las Vegas. This is going to be awesome.
Tomorrow I will join an aerobics club. Today I'm trying to convince Andy to write a book with me, but for now he's dragging his feet. Sigh. What an unmotivated boy!
