A good man gone

My Mother called me today as I was doing some accounting. I wasnt going to answer but I did anyway. She sounded sick so I asked her what was wrong. She told me my Uncle Stanely passed away sometime last night in his room. My Aunt Sandra found him. His kidneys had failed.

Uncle Stan was a very good man. My step fathers brother, he was kind, gentle, giving, and caring. Quite the opposite of my stepfather when I was a child. I looked up to him. Ben his Son, Shannon and Chrissy, his daughters were always treated so well. He never lifted a finger to them. Uncle Stan spoiled them rotten. I was envious.

I remember him always being so happy. He took me to work with him a couple of times when I was young. He got me my first contract job at 16 digging a hole for a water main in Oregon. I chose that day to do mushrooms with my best friend Spirit, and in doing, we finished the job earlier than expected and so he took us to lunch. He never told my step dad that I was druggin that day, hehe.

I spent a lot of time at his house. He knew I was ill treated at home and so he was always game for letting me do anything I wanted. Shannon and I got away with hell. He would give us money and we would do anything we wanted.

When we first moved to Bend he gave us all a place to live in his hotel. Free of charge and helping Mom and dad out.

I do not know any of his dark secrets. I do know that the man will surely get into heaven, or is at peace in GOD's good graces. I love you Uncle Stan. I will always remember you as the special man you are.
