This might be "Oh okay" for some of you, but lets frame it.
He' in a protest to Bring back Thaksin, the man who set up and organise the previous war on drugs out here in Thailand... he had a lot of people just straight up shot/ dead, resisting arrest of course or some such. (Pretty brutal campaign in a country where drugs is a death penalty offense sure.)
Suddenly that painting becomes a lot more questionable.
