I got back from California last night, and was greated with a temperature of 9 degrees. Awesomeness.
Anyway, Berkeley and San Francisco were great. I learned a lot at the conference, and met some big-wigs in my field. Then of course I had some good food while I had the chance (Greek, Turkish, Thai, some excellent frozen yogurt, micro-brew hefeweisen, and a couple of chai lattes). I got to hang out with Julia, Fayiza, and Phil too, to catch up on K and study abroad type stuff. Unforntunately I didn't get to spend too much time with them, and I didn't see Lanie, but of course I tried to convince them all to come visit Chicago and South Bend.
So Berkeley is a weird city. I liked it a lot, and its beautiful, but I don't know if I'd ever want to live there. It's just a little too "California" for me, if that makes sense.
Oh, and also, I've decided that the corner of Montgomery and Union in San Francisco is one of the most beautiful and unique intersections on earth.
