Retiring soon...
I read an article in TOI that said Mr.Vajpayee (Ex-prime minister of India) wants to retire from active politics. Much as I like him personally I was amused by this article. Do politicians every retire? I remember the time in 1996 when I met Vajpayee and Venkaiah Naidu in person (thanks to our neighbour) and gathered the courage to tell Mr. Vajpayee that I wanted to join politics. He smiled at me and said "Do it soon.. we are getting old and I want to retire...". Well its been 11 years. Maybe Mr. Vajpayee is waiting for me to enter the fray before he retires :). I always wonder where these politicians get their energy from. Much as we would like to malign and scoff at them, their energy and ability to sustain is very commendable. I wish I had a fraction of that strength and energy.
On a slightly different note, I wonder what happened to the political party started by the IIT guys? Heard they split up? Need to follow up on that.
