I see horses sometimes with those blinders on. They can't see anything but what the blinders allow. They can't see the ice cream shop and say, "Hey, that looks like some damn tasty ice there. Let's go ruin our diets on some of that stuff." They can't see the used records shop and say, "Wow, a used records shop! Let's go blow our savings on some used Yes records!" And, most importantly, they can't see the young attractive lady horses and say, "Hey, those are some attractive young lady horses. Let's go ruin the rest of our hopes and dreams and chase some of that tail!" Lucky horses. Wish I had blinders.

I saw this Yahoo article about Father's Day, and I actually read it. Apparently, the holiday was actually considered offensive to most people when the idea first came about. Congress laughed it off while suggesting that a national fishing day would be a better use of time. Point is that Father's Day almost never came to be. I think that would have been a better outcome.

I've been wondering lately about living a really long time. If I could live for hundreds of years and just wander around picking up knowledge from anyone and everyone willing to hand it out, would I really learn all that much? Would I really care? Some cultures place quite a bit of value on those that have lived long lives because they've had all that time to accumulate wisdom. Then after thinking about it some more, I realized that living that long among all of the other people was more like a punishment and the whole idea is absurd.
