It really is amazing how true the text of this comic is. I can't believe these books started out as moderately interesting occult mysteries starring the most prudish woman ever and then became so fucking terrible. The last one of these books I read is >700 pages, and the mystery, such as it is, takes up less than 50 pages. The rest is just bullshit threeways and orgies and people giving speeches. I mean I like reading about sexy vampires as much as the next loser girl, and I feel sick at the thought of reading more in this vein. Luckily, I accidentally skipped reading three of the books before the series turned into terrible erotica, so I actually have semi-interesting stories to look forward to on top of the last three (presumably terrible) books in the series.
I am almost done with the series, so I can't stop reading them yet, but I cannot emphasize enough how disappointing they are. I can't believe I got tricked into reading these books only to have them degenerate into the unreadable garbage that they are now. It's like starting out reading Raymond Chandler (or, rather, a much less gifted copycat) and then once you start getting interested, the whole thing turns into Penthouse Letters from furries.
If you are actually looking for a well-written occult mystery, read The Devil You Know or Vicious Circle by Mike Carey.
