But the point is that I always lose hats, it's just that in this case it might come back eventually.

Oh! Right. Maybe you could put a note in the hat. 'If found, have adventures, write about it and return with the hat'. At least that way you'll know about the adventures.

Yeah, I mean otherwise I'd just have to wait for Talking Hat Day or something, which I think could probably happen at some point.
