Grabbing the communicator from her inventory bag Lighting flipped the device open to see why the thing was pestering her. To the Woman's surprise the display screen showed that the time for her meeting with Snow had arrived. with a quick turn on her heal and an impatient gait she made her way over to the designated meeting place; a bar called the Sandsea. The warrior with the steel-pink hair was surprised to find herself feeling more than a little guilty that Snow seemed to still be concerned about her feelings toward him even this much later. To her it was a simple thing. He'd left her sister, he had to at least suffer a bit of physical pain for that. But now that it was out of the way everything was fine to her. To hear that things weren't the same for him was disturbing indeed.
But maybe she could do a better job this time. There was more to it than that though wasn't there? Yes, the woman couldn't hide the truth from herself. She hadn't seen any of her companions since the battle. She secretly worried about them. Were they well? What were they doing since cocoon fell? She sighed as she entered the building and looked around for the only person other than Serah she'd seen or heard from since then. I really am a sentimental fool aren't I?
After setting his rucksack on the extra room on his seat Snow fished out his phone from an inside coat pocket. Lightning would be arriving pretty soon. "Whatcha need Snow?" came a voice from down below. Looking directly down over the railing Snow could see the bar itself and those sitting there. "Give me two waters for right now." Snow called down holding up two gloved fingers. Almost right after he said that the door to the Sandsea opened and-
and.....Lightning walked in?
Snow flagged her down, only very distractedly. Seeing her wearing anything outside her typical style of dress was unusual, but this definitely took the cake. Armor on Lightning was definitely something Snow would have never thought would happen. "Comin' up!" said the bartender as two ice waters were being delivered to the second floor of the pub.
Finding Snow didn't take long. He was after all the only gargantuan blonde in the place. Having crossed the bar to where he was sitting however, Lightning frowned as she observed his expression. She hadn't known what she was expecting, but it definitely wasn't this strange look he had about him, with his two fingers kind of dangling numbly in the air.
"Something wrong?" The woman raised an eyebrow, then her eyes happened across his wrist. She hadn't noticed before because it wasn't as complete then, but now she cast a moderate glare and waved a hand toward it "What is that?" She asked him. Lightning was trying not to sound angry, but while she managed to keep that mostly out she couldn't keep the tinge of worry from slipping in. Seeing the mark made her want to run back to the Inn as fast as she could and check her own body for that mark as well.
Taking a deep breath as Lightning came over to his table Snow was about to just dive head first into asking Lightning about her new duds when she pointed at his wrist. Wow, had he really forgotten to mention that.
"Whoa, whoa. Light, easy. It's just a tattoo, the real deal is long gone. I got it while I was in Luca to, you know, remind me of the past."
The ice waters came and Snow gave a smile and wink to the young female waitress who gave a little giggle as she left. "What about you? What is that?" he echoed her question as he motioned at her armored attire that he still wasn't quite used to.
The woman eased up slightly. But still with a look that said she could probably think of a hundred other mementos he could have chosen that would have been better than the mark.
But then he spun the question back around at her and she became very serious.
"I...I just woke up with them on one day. I have no idea where this armor came from or how I came to own it." Lightning stared intently at him with a stern expression, wondering if he was going to buy into that story or not.
Having expected her to berate him for doing something stupid, Snow was pretty surprised that she left it at that. He grabbed the water, which turned out to be not as cold as he liked when it reached his lips. A small ice spell from his fingertips crawled through the glass which had a frost on it and the water developed a very thing layer of ice. After taking a gulp of it, the back of Snow's throat felt, well it didn't actually. He closed his eyes and tried taking some breaths to warm it back up.
His eyes opened and the minor brain freeze was forgotten as he heard Lightning explanation. "Wait. It was just on you?" he asked as his mind stumbled over processing the idea. "...yeah, I guess that does sound better than the idea that someone broke into your room and changed your clothes over night, right?" It was hard for him to keep a faint laugh from his words, so he covered it up as best he could by coughing and muttering something about cold water.
"Oh, you actually believed me!" Lightning gave a little exclamation, striking the palm of her hand lightly with her fist as she watched him drink some water and then apparently have an asthma attack.
"I wasn't being serious you know. I had this made for me because my other clothes seemed out of place here." The woman waved her hand casually but there was an obvious smirk of satisfaction on her lips at having tricked him like that.
"Well you do still kind of stick out like a sore thumb." Snow said hoarsely as he waited for his throat to warm up naturally. "But if it makes you feel like you blend in...” Kicking his rucksack under his chair, Snow looked over the railing next to their seat and said to the barman below. “Hot appetizers, behemoth toes if you got them.” He cleared his throat. “They’re not actual behemoth toes, they just meat wrapped with baked- nevermind.”
Snow stared at wrist where his l’cie tattoo. “I wasn’t expecting a call from you while I was on my little world tour. Actually I wasn’t expecting one from you ever.” He confessed before he looked from it up to Lightning. “Especially after that right hook you gave me back at the festival. So what’s up?” The smell of cooking meat started to fill Sandsea, even reaching to the second floor booth where they sat.
