Sabin couldn't help but chuckle at Squall's comment, even as his brows furrowed in thought. Was this the only other one who had come? He hadn't really paid attention to who might have boarded the ship before hand, simply figuring that there would be a goodly number of folks who would answer the call. After all, this world was chalk full of heroes, right?
Actually, now that he thought about it...He didn't see Zack. That just raised more questions. The dark haired warrior had shown no restraint when fighting with him to destroy the Malboro's in town, in fact he seemed just as eager as Sabin in his own way to continue the fight. So if that was the case, why wasn't he here?
The moments passed, and in the end he simply grunted concomitantly, and pushed the thoughts aside. No use crying over spilt milk. They would make do with what they had, and that was that. " It almost sounds like you don't look forward to the challenge that lays ahead...under us?" Sabin grinned in that big-bear manner as he spoke, shuffling over towards Squall to offer the leather clad man his hand, and a formal greeting. "Name's Sabin. I don't think I've ever seen you around before." An invitation for a name? Well, it'd be nice if he got one.
Squall shook the man's hand, giving a grunt of his. "Squall. Leonhart. Commander of Balamb Garden." Yay for titles.
He brushed a hand through his hair, sweeping the bangs out of his eyes. "Deep Sea Research Centre is a living hell. Been down there once before. It's not pretty."
He checked his weapon again. He gritted his teeth. Nervous? A little.
I suck at this don't I? *Sad face*royal_blitzJune 7 2011, 00:01:36 UTC
Sabin's lips split into a dangerous grin. There was something about this kind of danger that just brought out the best in people. Or the worst. It was interchangeable for some people. "Nice to meet'cha Squall. I get the feeling we'll get to know each other real well in the next little bit." It was the same way he'd gotten to know Zack really. No better place to know a man's heart than on the field of battle.
"We'll be fine if we watch each other's backs. It takes a truly strong person, to know when they need help." Sabin released Squall's hand as he spoke, casting around with those blue eyes. "Speaking of help, are we the only two people here?" He didn't sound nervous when he asked the question, just curious. Obviously Sabin felt that if they were alone, it was more than enough to handle the situation. However, he was never one to deny someone an invitation to an all out brawl like this.
"Looks that way... Disappointing really. At times like this you'd expect more people to band together." Squall shrugged his shoulders. "Can't grumble, I suppose. Two of us should be enough."
One of the moogles piped up. "You have us too! We can fight."
Squall wasn't so convinced. What could a tiny fluffball do against rabid, dangerous Malboro hybrids? Maybe they could throw the moogles at them and leg it if things went wrong.
