March 2, 2008
AN 80-YEAR-OLD man has been placed in protective custody in Denmark for robbing a bank with a water pistol after his bank refused to let him repay a loan in instalments.
The man walked into a Sydbank branch in the western town of Viborg wearing dark glasses and carrying a cane. Pointing the "gun" at the teller, he asked her to give him some money.
"Don't worry," he was reported to have said. "I don't shoot people."
He left the bank with a plastic bag filled with about 30,000 kroner ($6400), but only walked 300 metres before he was stopped by police.
