[One shot] Selfish

1. “OK! CUT! Let’s have a twenty minute break. ”
Ohno removed his suit jacket and handed it to a staff member before he walked over to his chair. He thought about his schedule for the whole week and counted the days left until his next day off.
“Tuesday.. Wednesday.. Thursday.. Friday.. Saturday. Five more days.”
Ohno heaved a sigh, already feeling weary. He then glanced at his co-star and heroine, Haru, who was sitting right next to him. She was reviewing her lines for their next scene.
“She’s probably just as busy. Poor thing.”
Haru looked up from her script and smiled politely at Ohno.
Ohno sheepishly smiled back.
“What are you doing tomorrow?” He decided to strike a conversation. Though they had their first meeting in Shiyagare, and have been together in press cons and guestings, they haven’t talked all that much.
“Tomorrow?” Haru put her script aside and looked down her lap, thinking. Then, she smiled and her eyes lit up. “Ah! Tomorrow’s a day off.”
“Eeeeh..” Ohno made a face that made the girl laugh. “I’m so jealous but good for you.”
“Thank you, Ohno-san. Do your best until your own day off,” Haru said, gesturing ‘fight’ with her hands.
2. In a press conference, Ohno told the press and the audience about the time he asked was doing the day after their shoot.
“I remember I was so happy that time. I thought, she can finally get some rest. That was the first time I felt happier for another person’s day off.”
3. Meanwhile, in a greenroom somewhere in Tokyo, four out of five members of Arashi were watching Miyaneya.
“I asked her, ‘What are you doing tomorrow?’”
At that question, Sho, Jun, and Aiba subtly squinted at the TV screen and looked at Nino at the corners of their eyes.
“I remember I was so happy that time. I thought, she can finally get some rest. That was the first time I felt happier for another person’s day off.”
Nino muttered something under his breath before he walked out of the room.
4. “Why isn’t he talking?”
Ohno threw another popcorn that hit the man’s back. Nino was busy playing his games and, usually, he’d somehow respond to any of Ohno’s means of disturbance. But it was different this time. Nino was as cold as a freezer and as hard as a stone.
“Hey.” Ohno crawled across the room and sat behind Nino, hugging him around his waist. “Hey, you.”
Nino groaned and did not spare Ohno even a glare.
“What’s up?” Ohno cautiously asked, kissing his neck and shoulder, then letting the man feel his breath at his nape. “You seem mad.”
Nino sighed heavily. He paused his game.
“It’s my day off tomorrow,” the younger man said, obviously anticipating for a good response from Ohno.
Instead of a response, he got a pout from the older man. He punched him on the arm.
“Ouch! What was that for?” Ohno rubbed his arm and scooted back a bit.
“Aren’t you glad it’s my day off?” Nino asked angrily.
“Huh? Of course, I’m glad you get to rest and all.”
Nino stood up with a stomp.
“Tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about.”
“Um.. your day off?” Ohno answered, giving Nino a clueless expression.
“You tell everyone you’ve never been happier for a person’s day off other than your own. But you were happy that Haru-san got her day off. So why can’t you be happier for my day off?”
”Nino’s being such a girl today. I love him.”
“Look.” Ohno stood up and reduced the space between them, sweetly grabbing Nino by the waist. “I’m always happier for my day off because I got all the time to check up on you. And do I even have to tell you how ecstatic I am when your day off is the same as mine?”
“Nice excuse. And Haru-san?”
Ohno shrugged.
“Don’t know. Probably because she’s my first onscreen heroine and I’m.. excited - which I hope doesn’t put you off. You know me. I say things I mean and I say things that I don’t mean.”
Nino pursed his lips and that meant he was contemplating on whether or not he should forgive Ohno.
“Be careful of what you say next time. People might take it differently.”
“People meaning you, right?” Ohno asked, smirking.
“Shut up and kiss me.”
And Ohno did.
5. They stopped, gasped for air, looked into each other’s eyes.
“By the way, also, don’t just go casually asking girls what they’re doing tomorrow or if they have plans.”
“Why?”
“You kind of sound like you’re about to ask them out.”
“Who thinks that?”
“A lot of people.”
“Now that I think about it-“
Ohno’s statement was cut midsentence when a notification popped up on his phone.
From: Haru-san
Subject: --
Message: I’ll you at work tomorrow, Ohno-san. :)
“You’ve already exchanged numbers with her?!”
Nino got up, buck naked and slammed the bathroom door shut.
“Nino, come back! I love you!”
