Yes, you guessed it, FICATHON 2013, the 10th Anniversary ficathon, is here!!
And since you've all been waiting oh-so patiently, here is the theme!!
In 1991, Naoko Takeuchi created a manga about a teenage girl who discovered she had superpowers and protected the Earth from evil, beginning one of the greatest love stories the world has ever known. And no, we’re not talking about Usagi and Mamoru. We’re talking about the fans of Sailor Moon, in all its wonderful incarnations!
2013, almost a quarter century after the release of the original manga, marks the 10th Shitennou Forums Ficathon. We would like to take this occasion to celebrate our fandom, and all the wonderful works it has produced in the years since we first heard the words Moon Prism Power Makeup.
The theme for this year’s ficathon is Celebration. To celebrate Sailor Moon, and this fandom, we are offering our participants the chance to have their Ficathon that Wasn’t. Some of you are new to fandom. Some of you have had other obligations during past ficathons. Some of you may have just been having a fight with your muse. Whatever happened, this is your chance to go back and use any of the previous 9 prompts, which are listed below along with brief explanations.
If you have had the pleasure of writing for each prompt, or if none of those prompts speak to you, please feel free to interpret “Celebration” in any way you see fit for this year. As a reminder, while ficathon is intended to be a fun event, it is also meant to be a challenge. Writers are encouraged to flex their writing muscles and write outside of their comfort zone. Part of the celebration of this year should be how ficathon has helped so many fans become better writers, giving them goals to aspire to, and lots of enthusiastic and constructive criticism.
Because this is a special occasion, we HIGHLY HIGHLY encourage artists to participate. We are willing to modestly commission a small number of pieces for this year’s event. Interested artists should contact the ficathon organizing committee at caffeineivore [at] gmail [dot]com.
