I'm in the same boat as you...applying this fall. I return to hell (school?) on Tuesday.

Aaah, it wish it weren't true.

Where are you looking to apply? If you don't want to answer, you don't have to...I hate when people ask me.

I just started Friday. It's a pain, really.

No, no problem! My top three are Smith College, Bryn Mawr College, and Kenyon College. I may do an Early Decision, but financial aid is always a huge consideration so I might not. I just want to know where I'm going so I can relax, you know? ;)

I'd ask the same back, but if you hate when people ask then...:P

I'll respond anyway, because I owe you. :)

I'm doing Early Action for Georgetown, because my mom loves it and the financial aid policy is good.

I'm also looking at Johns Hopkins and Tufts. I want to do International Relations as a major.

Aaah, I am not excited to go back! It's a bummer, truly.

Ooh, Georgetown! These are all schools I looked at and considered at some point. I'm also interested in studying International Relations/Studies, but I'm hoping to major in East Asian Languages/Cultures. We'll see how that goes. ;)

I think every time I feel like procrastinating I'll just post a Shitbox with some random question and see how much discussion I can get. It'll be long year.

*interrupts like mad*

Yay for Smith! I'm in the stages of applying to college as well, and I'm nearly positive I'm going to do Early Decision there. (Actually, I think Britt may have mentioned that you were applying there- not to sounds weird and creepystalkerish or anything.)

I'm pretty set on ED for Smith. I'm doing a visit/overnight around the 28-29th of October (I doubt my mind will change, but, you know...). Basically, I'm just trying to not get my hopes up to much so if I'm not accepted I can be happy at the others. I love my top three, though, so hopefully I'll end up where I need to be. :) But Smith is just so awesome in so many ways. What are you thinking about majoring in? :D

BUT IF WE BOTH APPLY AND GET ACCEPTED, OUR PARTIES WILL BE AMAZING. We could make pudding and adopt a peacock and oh! What larks we could have.

And Britt talks too much. :| ♥

I want to do an overnight visit before I apply, but I doubt it'll happen, if only because it's kind of a pain to get out there. If nothing else, though, there are a whole bunch of alumni in my area whom I can talk to, and do an interview with. It's amazing! And their equestrian team is fantastic, which is a big plus. I'm not sure what I want to major in; english or anthropology, although there isn't much you can do with english besides teach. Then again, there are so many other cool things to do! Environmental studies would be fun, too.

THAT WOULD INDEED BE SUPER FANTASTICALLY AWESOME. And if anyone asks why we have a peacock, we can tell them it's a parakeet!

I was really surprised my parents were willing to take me out that far...it's about five miles farther away from my sister's school, though, which is in Savannah (5000 some miles away), so they decided they may as well let me look! If you don't get to go I'll do a huge picspammage and tell every little detail. Wanna be "friends"? ;) I can't get over how they have Paradise Pond and that AMAZING botanic garden. I never realized how much the midwest has made me appreciate trees and other plant until I started looking at colleges and traveling. I refuse to go anywhere lacking in green ( ... )

I went out and saw the campus this summer, at least, which was awesome; I'd just really like to see students there and visit classes, etc, but having already gone out makes it less likely that I'll make it out again. Picspammage and a detailed report would definitely be a good consolation prize, though! 'Friends' sounds awesome. :D The water they have is gorgeous! I grew up just outside a large park with a river, and can't imagine living anywhere without green and water. Smith's campus makes me happy.

It's one of my favorite things; definitely my top priority besides school. My horse is old, though, which is sad, because it means there's no way I could take him to college with me. Even if it weren't crazy expensice to do so.

Or double major, or something... I'll figure it out, I'm sure. I'm definitely going to keep taking French, since it's always good to know a second language. Who knows, if I took an intense enough course I could do a french lit course one year.

Ok, randomly coming back to this because I thought I replied but apparently not...

Dude. Are we the same person. Because. askdjl Geez. I would love to major in English or Anthro, but French is so amazing and I'm set on East Asia. The more I look at Smith, the more I want to take classes on the environment or something (Landscape Studies!). Everything looks awesome. I'm a little bummed that French is only offered as a major, though.

Gosh, I keep talking like I'm already accepted. I will look back on this bitterly one day when I'm at some community college after being rejected from everywhere.

Back to English...honestly, the reason I won't major in it is because I don't want to be stuck somewhere teaching it to kids that hate to read. I'd love to teach it as a second language to kids or even adults in another country, though, and ease them into my favorite books and stuff as they learned.

ok, ok, shutting up now

s'cool, random comments make my inbox happy.

Apparently so, because French is my foreign language of choice. This will be my 7th year of taking it, and I like it a lot; it's hard, but it makes me think. I want to, I dunno, quadruple major or something, for serious. Oh, it is? I missed that! too bad; I don't like it enough to major in it, but a minor, I could maybe handle.

You and me both. I drive by the local community college every day to school; hello, future!

The idea of teaching really just doesn't appeal to me at all, but I like the idea of teaching it as a language more than anything else. The idea of actually living in a foreign country, though... I don't know if it's just because I'm young still, or if I've always been more home-centered than some, but I think I'd have a hard time with that.
