~Brady: Jeriah~

Really Jeriah had wanted to make his home into a place where Sigele would want to come afterschool to play. It had taken alot of strength however the night before Sigele was to start school, and he was start picking her up, he went out to the neighborhood market to pick up some toys for her. It had been shy and a bit awkward on his part, he didn't even like to go out and mingle with people, however very carefully he skittered down the toy aisle and started to select things that he thought that perhaps Sigele would want. Playdoh was placed into his basket, along with colouring books and markers, he didn't have a whole lot of colouring books at his house, and viewing the collection of those colouring books, he knew that he was sadly lacking in alot of them.

He also picked up some games, like candyland. All children liked candyland, right? He remembered his copy but he was certain it was packed up in the attic of their old home, an older version of it from the 70s, probably by now yellowed with 20 years of age. The board game was tucked underneath his arm and he was actually quite thankful that it was in the middle of the afternoon so the toy aisle was blissfully empty.

A toy my little pony also seemed to make it's way into his basket, he didn't know how it got there but he decided to keep it there with it's purple shiny mane. There was a longing that she be at home at his house, even though he didn't know it himself that he wanted to make her happy while she was over at his in the afternoons, and that took form in material things that seemed to be manifestations of the honest desire in his heart. And then there was the hula-hoop, she could learn and it would give Wookie something to bark at. as if he needed anything else to bark at.. he certainly barked enough at the random knockings on his door.

All of his treasures he took to the register, placing them a bit awkwardly on the conveyor and watching them slide down the belt. All he could think of was if Sigele would like these tributes of a very devoted knight. So much he was musing on it that he forgot his shyness momentarily when he was paying for what was now presents, presents that would be kept over at his house for when she came over. He paid for them and then headed back to the apartment with his arms laden with things.

Once inside his sanctuary, he began to see that he had no suitable place to put these things. And it became clear that Sigele needed a little nook for her things, she couldn't sit at the counter, the chairs were too high off the ground and she might fall off, and the coffee table was always so filled up with his things, like his laptop or books, and so after he placed all of his purchases on the floor, he went out again.. something that was nearly unprecedented in his normal routine.

The next place he went to was a children's furniture store and then selected a tiny little desk in a bright purple, it even had a little chair for a child and drawers where she could put her crayons, markers and colouring books. It was sized perfectly to fit Sigele and so he bought it, the price.. well it didn't matter for it was his own way of making Sigele comfortable.

The next thing on his list when I finally got home with the desk was to find a spot to place it. Many spots were probably appropriate however none really appeased him. The blank spaces where a desk could go was too far away from where he normally was and he wanted to be able to sit at his desk and she at hers, perhaps quiet time. He thought about it and finally the only option that he could think of was to move his desk closer to the corner where he had put Sigele's. And so came the process of moving his desk, but first he had to move the bookcases out of the way.. and that became a long drawn out process with a break in order to walk Wookie. What had started out as a simple shopping trip became the rearranging of most of his living room to accomodate the desk that he had bought her. Afterwards Jeriah curled up on the couch, a few hours earlier then when he normally went to bed, having forgotten to find his bed, but that was alright because he was happy, and the house was ready for Sigele to come and spend a few hours of every day with it.

Mentally though Jeriah had moved the fear inside his heart around, pushed it back to make room for Sigele, and that was what truly mattered.
