Sometimes I wonder about people. Then I want to beat them.
On the bus ride in to work this afternoon, I watched the following interaction between a grandmother and her young grandson (maybe 5 or 6 years old). SHe was holding a transfer, with which to get on another bus.
Boy: What's that?
Grandmother: It's a transfer.
Boy: What's it mean?
Grandmother: Just what I said. It's a transfer.
Boy: Why?
At this point, the grandmother stopped answering.
Did she just not get that what he wanted to know wasn't just the name of the object, but what the transfer is *used for*? Why did she just tell him its name again? The name of the object doesn't necessarily tell someone what it's for.
Am I the only one who sees why Grandma needs a good smack? o_O
Oh-- for an interesting audiovisual experience, check out A Perfect Circle's video "Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums". Their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" is also stunning, especially if you see the video at the same time. Wow. o_O *Very* anti-Bush and anti-mindlessness.
