I still think it's amazing that Paul Pierce grew up a Laker fan. I wonder how things would have gone if he'd ended up in the team he thought he was originally slated for, rather than the Celtics like he is now.
little cheer for Derek Fisher, btw, he's one of my favorites since he was from the old team before the huge fallout culminating in Shaq being traded, Jackson's (thought to be permanent) retirement, and Kobe left with a team that had basically fallen into pieces and his reputation up in flames. with Shaq and Kobe and he's a fast little guy. NGL, I think Lakers would have been screwed if it had been Shaq who'd fouled like Gasol did. Shaq's infamous for his free throw fail.
And it's kind of fucking great of Kobe to be all "we couldn't have done it without the Spaniard" and all the screaming and hugging, jfdklsfj PHIL JACKSON, GO FOR THE THREEPEAT OF THE RINGS.
Phil Jackson and Kobe have come a fucking long way from Jackson calling Kobe "uncoachable".
And I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as when the fouls per team came up. All four of the Celtics' main players were on the list and had 4-5 fouls and were in the red for being benched if they managed to get another one, versus the Lakers...
...where only one player was in the red (or even on the list) with 4 fouls. Kobe.
