Ask not what you country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. I always liked the idea of that, well not the going to war part, but I think it's all in the interpretation. I spend far too much time on irc, well doesn't everyone? However I recently decided to change things a little. I realised that since I moved out of home, not only have I become ultra lazy, but also very recluse. I'm no martyr but over the past two weeks I have spent a fair bit of time doing things for other people. I don't want or expect anything in return. I haven't done anything major, and it hasn't cost me much but instead of sitting idle on irc, for a change I can look back on two weeks and call them almost productive. It's great. Now when someone asks what I've been up to, I actually have something to say. A few hours of my time may not change the world for everyone, but it certainly might change one persons world. I'm not talking about tree hugging hippy crap, or even any religious mumbo jumbo. A few reassuring words, a bit of sweat, translation of some bureaucratic jargon, it doesn't matter what, but it just might mean a lot to the person concerned. All I'm saying is we don't always have the time or patience to give to others, but when we do, why not make use of it?
