how not to adult

Instead of sleeping I made a Steve icon. Priorities, what's that?

... actually, I don't remember what I was going to say, other than that I want to make a CATWS fanvid, on top of ALL the fanart and fanfic. I would call this a major problem, but... it's a major problem. I went on rants about tokenism and affirmational vs. transformative fandom, okay. Been stalking the Sam/Steve AO3 tag and got on astolat's radar oh my godddddd how did that even happen!?!?!?!

Also found a way to get even madder at how Joss Whedon wrote Steve in the Avengers, though if I'm gonna be realest I'll say he does a way better job with his characters than JJ Abrams & Co. did with their Trek ones. Like, this only dawned on me when I read a post complaining about Steve being written as "fish out of water" hopeless goober in the 21st century and a hilarious comic where Steve adapts to 21st century way faster than Clint expected. Or they're the same post? I can't remember. But they both made me think a bit. If MCU is moving in real time, then wouldn't Steve have almost a year to adapt to the 21st century before the Chitauri invade? Or does him waking up in the 21st century kind of fuck things up? Like, I'm sure the time between the Avengers and CATWS is enough time for him to adapt quite a bit but how he acts/reacts to pop culture references and questions about missing the Old Days is very, very different from him in the Avengers.

Avengers!Steve is bizarro!Steve and ought to be set on fucking fire.

You thought I was letting this go?

I'M NEVER LETTING THIS GO.

Years and years of thinking and mulling over these things - and also dumping MCU fandom a few months after the Avengers came out, which is pretty telling - has led me to the conclusion that Joss Whedon's shit just don't jive with me. His shit isn't relateable, too snappy without enough depth, and forgettable. Really forgettable.

I can't wait for more capable people to get their hands on MCU and I can't wait for these assholes to wake the fuck up and diversify. You have the brand name and experience picking out the right talents, crew, and scripts. EXPAND YOUR GODDAMN HORIZONS ALREADY.

Brain wants actual Wishing Well sequel that ignores the Avengers, doesn't attempt to give a fuck about Tony, doesn't try to make Steve/Tony happen, and makes Sam/Steve a good possibility. I love this ship so much. I love MCU!Sam so much. I just want to draw this ship being cute cuties forever. Halp.

p.s. I finally posted the final version of Wishing Well. I also wrote some Sam/Steve for a thing I drew.

drawing is like cake, ramblings of the overactive mind, everything is beautiful and nothing hurt, fandom: marvel cinematic universe, fandom: general, 2014, go to bed ffs, pairing: marvel: sam/steve, writing is hard, story is the heart of the world, movies that blow socks off
