What is it? What the hell did I do? What did I write that's so compelling to me that I'm willingly spending months playing in that one sandbox and ignoring all other possibilities? What is it about We Are Pilots that's gripping me tight and never letting go?
:) Simple answer: you wrote an awesome story. With characters that are real enough and immediate enough to empathize with strongly, a world setting that's detailed and tangible, and interactions/plot that leaves one fascinated and eager for more.
Long answer... eh, there's no one reason. The Tron fandom in general is pretty compelling; for a story with a relatively small cast, it's still got an array of characters that are vivid and heartbreaking in a variety of ways; it's easy to get drawn in. And We Are Pilots was a ridiculously excellent take on the post-Legacy world. I love your 'verse, and my ranting/analysis/obsessive-checking aside, I don't doubt my brain spends maximum a third as much time contemplating it as you do. And seriously, the Sam/Tron dynamic, especially as you wrote it... >.< It's not something you can just let go of.
...fiction is awesomer than real life? And in some ways, at least as real.
