It's beautiful, Shiro. And I can't choose a favorite part because each has it's own little bit of aching, but diamond hard truth. The ones that stood out to me:
John and his boys. You gave me a sneak pieek of this bit, but it still hits me. I WANT A HUG, TOO!
Sam teaching Dean to use chopsticks and reminiscing about his college days. 'One of us!' Because you can tell how much it means to them to have that, even though most people wouldn't consider it to be such a big thing.
Oh, man. You said you were going to get into the skeeve and you did! Blegh. Especially since I tend to think that women [particularly attractive women] (because they're usually the first to get this kind of treatment from society and fetishized women, esp.) should know better. None of them have a problem saying that to Sam, but how would they feel if someone came up to them and told them "Stanford? Why are you studying? You're too pretty to study and work hard, come and be an actress!" Poor Sam. *pats*
And the end! Oh, man. Just beautiful interaction and that story you used. A lovely, heartbreaking image that I have now of Mary Ahn telling Dean the story.
And I'm so happy that you'll be coming back to this verse because I'm so curious about EVERYONE. Cas and Cas's Vessel, Mary Ahn, John, Sam/Jess, Dean, Bobby, etc.

Especially with Sam I always felt like he wanted to belong somewhere instead of drift around like Dean and John. Maybe when I revisit I can write more on the relationship between Sam and John; in a world more hostile to them it's probably likely Sam would gravitate to the one person who wouldn't judge him. Would make the ultimate fight splitting Sam and John more painful. Ye gods.
And more ye gods - imagine genderbending biracial!Sam & Dean. The skeeve would be exponentially worse, DDD: DNW.
I kind of love piquing people's interest in the people in this world. Makes me want to revisit as fast as possible. Already thinking up potentially smutty Dean/Castiel. *predictable*
