I went to the urologist yesterday. When I told him about my last kidney stone and how they had me do a 24-hour urine collection to determine what caused the stone only to never get back to me with the results, he looked it up.
Turns out that my body was/is deficient in two specific chemicals which prevent the creation of kidney stones. In other words, if Kaiser had done their fucking job in the first place and told me this, I could have been put on medicine to raise my levels in those two chemicals, and I wouldn't be fucking going through this again!
Thankfully, the stone doesn't appear to be stuck like the last one was--at least, not yet. Here's hoping it stays that way.
Oh, and speaking of Kaiser screwing up, when I left the hospital Tuesday night, I had a prescription for two drugs. One of them was Vicodin (well, the generic equivalent). I did not get the Vicodin. I was too out of it from the day's ordeals to double check or even question it. Until today, I thought I could do without it. However, I had some major pain which took six over-the-counter pain pills to get under control. I think I'm going to call the urologist and ask him to re-prescribe Vicodin for me.
