One more for the road....(until next time that is).

On my last "free" Sunday before work starts, went out and about, hitting some stores to see what new stuff has popped up. Did finally see more Wave 7 GI Joe, which makes it about time, since apparently Wave 8 is shortly due to ship.

But, in what shall be now known as "The Competition" ^_~, I snagged a new(or newish, since the copyright stamp shows part of the mold has been around Lanard since the mid 80's) Corps' vehicle: The Command Tank.

For $9.93, you get the Command Tank, and one new generation Corps Figure, and some 1/18 weapons for the figures. The plastic isn't the best, nor does the tank feature seats to sit in(though there are pegs present, so one wonders if perhaps they did include them once) and the treads do not move(but then, neither do the Patriot Grizzly, so...no biggie). There are four stations to place a figure in. Two in the turret and two in the hull. There are a few foot pegs on the hull, as well, for figure placement.

The Turret: The turret features a large gun, that elevates and makes a clicking sound as it does so(I'd take the clicker out, but it holds the barrel of the gun steady). There is an opening hatch that covers the machine gun operator. The machine gun can elevate and traverse right or left. The figures don't have much room in this turret, however and I may eliminate the seat right behind the main gun. On the right side of the turret is a missile pod, that holds four red missiles and can be raised and lowered. The turret itself is capable of making a complete 360 degree turn, though, like the barrel, it makes a clicking noise as it turns(this I can take out without hampering turret movement).

The Hull: The meat of the vehicle is the hull, which has the driver station and another machine gunner station. Detail is pretty nice on the body, with vents, lights, tow lines, and other assorted tank equipment. On the back right of the hull, right under the missile launcher, is a flip down panal that holds a machine gun. In front of the machine gunner station is a pop up missile launcher. The driver station features a closing hatch, but with the main gun in position above it, it cannot open. Under the front edge of the tank, is a flip down plate, that would allow it to easily pass through tough hedges or thick underbrush. On the left side of the tank, there is a missile launcher that holds a rather large missile. The whole unit can tilt back to launch it.

Gripes and Comments: For $10 you aren't getting a top of the line Hasbro or bbi vehicle here. As mentioned the plastic is odd feeling and the figures of the new Corps line, do not fit into the hatch openings easily, which means, GI Joe figurs might have a tough time fitting as well. However, the presentation is fairly nice. The paint job is good, though the "paint splotches" to make it look dirty could be done without. The stickers are sparse, but effective. All in all, for $10 it is very worth the money. Plus, if I do get around to it, I shall be customizing one to make a Cobra tank, since this does look like something they would use.
