Planets that are fat, best watch out, cuz Unicron is here.

Anyway, went out to the store tonight. Was going to go to the nearest Wal*Mart Supercenter, but a major traffic jam made me double back and go to the second store I was going to go to that night, Target.

Which turned out to be a blessing as I get to the action figure aisle and spot, on the bottom shelf, one huge box containing Unicron. So, needless to say, I picked him up, and purchased him. I also picked up the new Han Solo in Hoth gear.

Unicron is big. His box is huge. Hasbro also didn't want him to fall out of this box as he was secured with about 2 miles of wire X_x. After about a half an hour, I got him free. Once out, I set out to see exactly what he could do. Pretty nice all around. Even though he's from Armada and not Generation 1, he still looks like the Movie Unicron. A lot of clear plastic pieces make up his "planet shell". He has 3 missle launchers on each leg, activated by a Mini-Con placed on a peg on the leg. Inside each shin is room for one Mini-Con. His abdomen can hold one Mini-Con and his shoulders can hold 1 each. His right hand is clear, and has an LED light that blinks when you press back on it. Like the left hand, the fingers are articulated, allowing for a nice range of motion. In his chest, under flip out panels, is a missle launcher. This is activated by a Mini-Con on Unicron's back. What it does is activate a motor that pushes the launcher out. This also lights up Unicron's eyes.

Transformation is not that hard, but he isn't easy to hold during some of the stages. Once in planet mode he forms almost a sphere, albiet a mishapen one. This can't be helped because of the transformation and where the legs and what not go. Perhaps they could have added more add-on pieces to form the complete sphere, but eh, he's okay as is.

My one big gripe comes from him coming with only one Mini-Con. While this may be what Unicron is seen with in Armada(not sure, since I haven't seen him yet), I'd really like a few more Mini-Cons. He certainly has enough room in his box for an extra 2 or 3, plus they'd go great with all his features. But its a minor gripe. I'm just glad to finally have a Unicron figure after what, 17 years?
